You have to admit, they are really good with the fundamentals.

The WNBA is okay, too, I suppose.

I am actually surprised the WNBA is still around and hasn't folded yet. Do they make a profit?

Isn't the WNBA consistently on the "things most likely to go under next year" lists?

Nope. They are subsidized by the NBA for what I assume is marketing reasons or something. The WNBA would fold yesterday without the NBA paying their bills.

That was my guess. I suppose the NBA can afford it easily and it helps promote the game

Jesus, it's pathetic watching the local media trying to act like the Storm matter here in Seattle.

I thought the market was gamboling.

Hasn't the WNBA somewhat tapped that market to the extreme?  Wouldn't they be better served focusing on new markets that could potentially expand the fan base beyond the already meager levels. I guess that is the large part of the problem that there is no real market for the product beyond the niche spectacle that it presently has.  It's sole purpose is seemingly to justify basketball's inclusion in the Olympics and to prop up the USA medal count in the summer games.

WNBA just signed its death certificate

It already lost much of its original fan base because families got tired of seeing ugly women necking in the seats during games.

I thought they were just focusing on the L part before.

Most WNBA teams (especially coastal one's like Seattle and Portland) were already heavily marketing to the Lesbian community, so, this is just making it more of a league wide thing.

About ten years ago I was doing a college paper and one of my references was an article from the LA Times, as I recall. It dealt with the decision the WNBA was making (or perhaps just the LA franchise) to either go for the quick money by marketing to gay women, potentially alienating families from attending, or else to forego the LGBT crowd and try to build an audience over the long haul and hope they don't go bankrupt first.

Yeah, the WNBA has been doing this from the beginning. Our restaurant hosted parties there, and the WNBA knew their base.

When you have the coach dancing on your pool table, I'd say that the team knew to whom it was marketling.

I saw plenty of people go to games when I was working in downtown Phx. Maybe you don't have friends?

Can we talk about Diana Tarausi some more?  I've had a crush on her since she was in college.
