The nine-seat Cessna seaplanes take off and land in the relatively depopulated water.

"Yeah, there's boats in the water, but the chances we will hit one?"

Pretty good actually. DC, Boston, and NYC's waters are pretty crowded with boats, ferries, kayakers, etc.

Will they still water people in air?

They want to land ON the water, not IN the water.

So, we can finally take the Spruce Goose out of it's hangar in LA?

I could see this work in DC if it landed south of National Harbor on the Potomac and taxied there for offloading.  Wouldn't enter DC's airspace, could use the same glideslope/ATC for Regan National, not many boats around.

I'd like to caption this "Neil Young's worst album," but Neil Young has lots of worst albums.

I can look out my office window and see Kenmore Air planes taking off and landing in Lake Union...nothing new here.

This is what you want for the water flight service:

12 tons or 75 passengers, or a mix.

This service could have worked in Chicago when Meigs Field was still there.  Maybe they could still  dock at Navy Pier, though - that's planning some renovations, and a  seaplane dock/ramp seems a natural. I'd like that very much, if just to piss off ex-mayor Daley.

The Beriev 200 would be my choice of pimped-out oligarch ride, since it's part plane, part yacht, able to go anywhere and big enough to outfit the inside like Trump's wet dream.

If I got into a Kenmore airplaine, and it didn't have a clicky knob you had to pull to start the engine, I would be severely disappointed. And some faux-wood stickers on the instrument panel would be cool too.

The Delta terminal at LaGuardia, built as the Marine Air Terminal, is nice work of Art Deco

I love taking the seaplane between St. Thomas and St. Croix.  No security.  Easy on and off and my car is parked just a few yards away from the plane.

It's an easy 18 minute commute.

Chalk's Airline was always a trip. Landing / taking off or on the water near landing /.taking off.

Yea but how much is the flight RT?

Eh, they are going to need to spend some cash buying off some congresscritters if they want to get closer to DC than Dulles. National Airport can't take any more traffic by federal law and anything landing or taking off from the Potomac is still going to have to do so in the DCA pattern.

Varies from $115 to $200 normally.
