Close your eyes, rub your fingers with a bit of pressure over your eyelids and keep them closed. See the funny colors and shapes? You have now see 10 minutes of Star Trek: TMP.

Ah, Spacehackers. The MST3K episode that never was.

And the ending to "2001: A Space Odyssey", to boot.

Doesn't feel relative till the end and then it becomes totally relevant.

This is a great model. Set a precedent for crowd-sourcing scientific research.

In ten years we are going to be crowd-sourcing our children's education, at least in these idiotic red states.

I donated to this project, but had some trepidation as to whether they'd get the shiat put together in time.  Then I saw that Ettus Research (SDR gurus) were involved...  now I think they've got a really good chance of pulling it.

It still boggles the mind that this spacecraft was repurposed back in the early 80's, and given a final nudge that would bring back within shouting distance decades later.  Coolest space shiat ever.

Was going to say something similar, but I'll just make mention of having to buy tanks even the Pentagon doesn't want, while science has to go to the people...  reminds me of how the Statue of Liberty got a base.

I *liked* STTMP. It was an engineer's Star Trek episode.
