Just put one of those speeding scoreboards and most people will slow down.

Protip: if you hit triple digits it just says SLOW DOWN and doesn't break the machine.

On behalf of everyone who has ever driven thru a location with a  set up like that, I would like to say go fark yourself.  Those little towns with like a 10 mph limit and 20 speed bumps with stop signs every 10 feet are the single most annoying thing in the universe next to slideshows.  Also, "no through traffic" really.  Is that road public?  cause if it is then guess what asshole.  You can go fark yourself again.

Yah, I avoid those streets whenever possible. Which is the point I guess. Sounds like a city planner may have goofed. There's a town nearby with a similar problem. There's a parallel road just as long as the main drag one block over, so if you aren't going anywhere on the main drag, it's easier to take this residential one. It's 35 and has two schools on it, but going the speed limit is still faster than dealing with the traffic and lights on the other. But I've seen people going 50, passing illegally, and tailgating. A few years ago a woman killed a kid getting off of a bus there. They put in one of those radar signs and I guess it's helped a bit. But I could see why some residents would want to put things in place to slow traffic down.

Oh, on an aside, the woman passed the bus while it's stop sign was deployed, hit the kid, and kept going. She claimed she didn't know because she was on the phone and they arrested her at home while having dinner. She got five years. I guess one for each of the kid's birthdays. I think she's out already too.

You must not know what it's like to have jackasses racing through your little neighborhood in order to beat the lights, while people are walking their dogs and their little children ride bikes.

I'll never meet you in real life, but I laugh at your suffering...you self-entitled, douchebag. There are more people in the world than you. Maybe someone like you will run one of your kids over someday. Then maybe you'll be more understanding of this guy's perspective.

I'll wager your point of view will evolve whenever you graduate from tv dinners to making meals with your family in a residential neighborhood.

Um, no, they don't. Unless there's a problem with your car, an automatic transmission does NOT "idle at 25 MPH."

On level ground, the fastest ANY automatic transmission car should be able to go without use of the accelerator is about 5 MPH. For a manual, it may be a bit faster, depending on the gear ratio of first gear. Note that an automatic transmission car's torque converter slips at idle- that's the point of it- so the transmission isn't even fully engaged at idle.

Three stop signs added to my neighborhood in 8 months. Asked the local patrolling cop if this was due to more accidents and he said no. Asked if it were due to kids in danger/being hit and he said no. I asked why then and he said a complaining elderly resident. Eff that guy.

I used to work for the city's traffic department. I would literally get these types of calls every single day. Old people wanting more stop signs, lower speed limits, speed bumps, etc...

We'd go out and do a traffic study, and find that 85% of the traffic was going under the speed limit, but they wouldn't accept the data.

Something must happen when you're old and retired and bored, where you just lose your mind and take up bizarre causes.

How many people die, have a heart attack, stroke, Ect. every year in The Villages? Speed isn't the biggest danger on the roads in FL, people too old to drive that can't remember the difference between the break pedal and the accelerator, that's what scares me. In FL fear the parking lots, not the highways.
