Please name one figure with the same stature in the Democratic Party that Karl Rove has in the Republican Party who publicly repeated those rumors about your pregnancy, Sarah.

2014-05-20 11:38:35 AM
I never consider the rumor that Bristol was the real mother to be a negative against Sarah Palin.  Pretending to be the mother of Trig, so that Bristol could have the life of a normal kid, without being a teen mom, probably would have the first unselfish act Sarah Palin had ever done in her life.

Also, clicking on the link, the Salon.com is DEBUNKING the rumor, and the Politico article is merely reporting on the fact that the rumor exists, and it seems to have a skeptical tone.

Which is quite a bit different than a former Republican White House Deputy Chief of Staff actively spreading those rumors.

Do you need some cream for your butthurt, subby?  Or are you unaware that all politicians have double standards.

You didn't need to go that low.

Isn't she ever tired of playing the victim?

Wake me up when you can find an example of an actual spokesman, official, or someone with actual farking pull in the Democratic party said something remotely similar to what Rove's pushing about Hillary, about Palin or her family. People on the Internet are assholes. Newsflash. And even then both sides aren't equally bad, because if you're just going by people on the Internet being assholes I guarantee I can find more and worse shiat said about Hillary than Palin.

Andrew Sullivan, who wrote the most "Sarah Palin is the grandmother of Trig rather than his mother" pieces that I know of and talked about it for months is a conservative media figure.

Democrats didn't have a former white house figure and major Democratic speech writer going around making those claims.

The story that Palin tells as "the truth" about her labor and travel back to Alaska makes her look crazier than the aforementioned conspiracy theory. That takes some effort.

I wonder how many greenlights THIS trollmodadminmitter has.

Palin linked to articles from Politico and Salon about rumors that circulated when she was running for vice president suggesting she wasn't the real mother of her youngest son Trig, who has down syndrome.

We all remember when the Clintons wrote for Politico and Salon right?

2014-05-20 12:40:13 PM
I don't really remember anyone but random internet assholes and maybe the biggest asshole of them all, Bill Maher, making fun of her son, which he was thoroughly excoriated for.

It's not that they're bad at discerning through even the slightest amount of nuance; it's they're deliberately obtuse.

Or, if you want to be really horribly cynical, she was hoping to induce a miscarriage by flying that incredibly late in her term.

Republican equivalency:

The leader of your party's political operations says something and conservatives all around support it and run with it == Some people on the internet with no political affliliation say it and the other party ignores it or even disagress with it.

See BOTH SIDE ARE JUST AS BAD!!

Dear Sarah:
The democrats double standards (if such exist as you have not proven your claim, and indeed, your own 'citations' seem to disprove it) are still higher than the absolutely no standards Republicans seem to require of Presidential or Vice-Presidential candidates.

I think it was more of a judgment thing than a health issue. The whole "conservative unwed teenage mother" hypocrisy was just icing on the cake.

I'm the libbiest lib that ever libbed, and even I take Bill Maher with a huge grain of salt.  He's an asshole, but he's upfront about being an asshole, and his target audience is smart enough to acknowledge that he is indeed an asshole and don't take his every word like it's the goddamn gospel.

Health was an issue for Palin in the same way that health is an issue for any candidate going for a presidential position.  The thing was she isn't unhealthy so why talk about it.

Judgement is an entirely different issue but, in the case of Sarah, is quite a bit more relevant to talk about.

See, the country's just swell under the Obama regime (which includes any cabinet member who'd lie and prove ineptitude by shining the boot that's now on America's neck). With enormous issues to debate before choosing a Presidential/Vice Presidential ticket, have confidence no mean-spirited salaciousness will be pushed by "real journalists."

That Sarah has a way with words.  Specifically, her way is just to draw them randomly out of a hat and occasionally sneer at some of them.

Sure, you'll find plenty of stupid on "Tiger Beat on the Potomac" and Salon without looking too hard, but in my opinion you have to go to a Jennifer Rubin op-ed or a John Hawkins blog to reach Palin levels.

One of the differences I see between the "left" and the "right" is that the right are idolizing their heroes and politicians like crazy.  The right keeps accusing the left of this (usually saying we hold Obama in godlike esteem or what have you) but it's not happening there.  I see *a lot* of criticism of Obama on the left.  Meanwhile when you point out hypocrisy or bad facts in someone's claim you constantly see non sequitur comments because they can't grok that their heroes might be wrong about something.

Mr. Rove said at an event earlier this month that she suffered a "traumatic brain injury" and should disclose more details about it, The Wall Street Journal reported last week.

GoP: Health records, full disclosure demanded! Tax returns, whoa there let's not get personal!

At the time it did not look like an unselfish act to many of us.  Candidate Palin seemed to be faced with the choice of either being a new mother herself, or trying to be a "Family Values" GOP VP candidate with a teenage daughter who just had an out-of-wedlock baby, i.e. Wasilla-billy white trash tornado bait, which wouldn't exactly inspire Country Club Republicans to rally around her campaign.

I never did get why Sullivan wouldn't let it go. Occam's razor based on his own timeline he posted would suggest the most reasonable explanation is that she gave birth a few days after returning to Alaska (since there were three days between her return flight and the birth being announced) and later thought it was more romantic/impressive to gild the lily and claim she was actually already in labor when she gave her speech at CPAC without anyone even noticing it because of how composed she was. Of course, that got screwed up by the fact that she had an 11 hour return flight she apparently boarded despite the risk of complications to an atypical pregnancy. The fact that he tried to suggest that proof of Palin's story being false would be the greatest hoodwink of the media by a politician ever and not a case of something slightly more mockable than Hillary's Bosnian sniper fire exaggeration boggles the mind.

Also: the Trig jokes are like Helen Keller jokes: they were crass attempts at being so offensive that it became humorous and had absolutely no political backing. No one should mock those with mental issues of any sort. No one ever asked if having a child with Downs Syndrome disqualified Palin as a candidate.

There won't be any debate on corporate oligarchy... though we desperately need it and it's been needed since the 1984 election.

That's because their brains are broken (or at least, much, much simpler), and they tend to be stupid.
