The Pacers are playing a seven man rotation now.  Their starters all showed up (farking George Hill) which was good.  I am expecting a stinker from Hibbert, a step back from West, and a Lance Game from Lance.

Heat by a bunch.

The last game was the best game in Pacers franchise history and an average game for the Heat, statistically speaking, and the Pacers won by 11.

I like the Heat tonight

Yeah!  Who will the Illuminati fix the draft for this season?

I am going with the Sixers.  And their pick will be a bust.

Celtics have a great chance of scoring a top 5 pick so I am pretty excited about tonight.  Go, ping pong balls, go!

We'll see. Stern had a pretty good tradition of making sure teams that blatantly tanked didn't land the top pick. Should be interesting to see how Silver runs it.

/note: I approve of rigging it to prevent teams that are tanking from profiting

Agreed.  I am just wearing my tin foil cap and seeing Milwaukee (worse than the Sixers while trying) and Orlando (lots of lottery success in the past) and went with the "traditional market" team.

Note: Observations based on Stern running the draft, not Silver.

I could see Milwaukee getting it. I mean, they did just get a new ownership group (think New Orleans). They didn't really tank so much as sucked. Part of the agreement for the new owners was that they had to be committed to staying in Milwaukee, which means that really, the league would probably like to help the new owners invigorate interest in the team as much as possible, especially since they're trying to get a new arena built.

And they have a quarter of the balls. That all makes sense, I would love to see the Bucks be good.

Me, too. Would be nice to see some new city names in the playoffs. Thunder, Timberwolves, Bucs, Cavs. Saw some new teams this year and it actually made it kind of exciting.

All I want is for the Celitcs to get a top three pick, then draft one of Wiggins, Embiid or Exum.  Then I want to trade Sullinger + the #17 pick + Bogans + The Clippers 1st round 2015 pick + the Celtics 2016 1st rounder for Kevin Love.  Then use the trade exception we got from Paul Pierce to get Asik from Houston if we don't get Embiid.  I hardly think that is too much to ask.  Rondo / Wiggins / Green / Love / Asik please

2014-05-20 03:04:19 PM
Embiid over Wiggens is going to be the next Oden over Durant. It's a shame Portland doesn't have a shot at the lottery.

2014-05-20 03:36:40 PM
Through 29 NBA lotteries dating back to 1985, only one franchise ever won the NBA title with its own no. 1 overall pick. The team? San Antonio with David Robinson (two titles) and Tim Duncan (four titles, two with Robinson).

Love will hit his prime in about 3 years (he's 25 now), but Asik will probably suck by then.  If they get a new C, Rondo holds up and Wiggins starts to hit his potential, they could probably at least take the East.  I think the West would probably murder them, though

FROM THE NBA DIRTSHEET SPOILERS

The current plan is to have the Miami Heat win the Draft Lottery.  The details of how this will occur are still being finalized.  The current plan is to have Alonzo Mourning distract the officials while Pat Riley pours a bucket of ping pong balls into the machine.  The final say on the angle has been left to Commissioner Silver, who fears that such an angle may lead fans to believe the NBA favors its star teams and players.  One source is quoted as saying "No one has ever accused the NBA of fixing outcomes and it would breach the trust we have with our fans."  The source only identified himself as "Stern".

2014-05-20 05:48:42 PM
Now that Indiana has done "what they were built to do," they will get their swagger back. This will cause them to forget how to pass the ball, lose Game 2 and hand home court advantage to the Heat. I think it will go six or seven games, but it's the Pacers' series to lose. If they start believe their hype, Miami advances. If they listen to their coach, they will meet the Spurs in the finals.

Please, everyone knows in the Authority storyline, the buildup is for Durant to get his moment. James is only there to plug his new Space Jam movie and there's no way people will keep watching if they keep burying Durant.

As for tonight, got a feeling the refs make themselves known and whoever loses has an obvious "FT disparity" argument.

2014-05-20 06:13:52 PM
OK. Prediction time. Lebron gets 40. Wade only gets 14. Rest of Heat combine for 26. Pacers put together a balanced scoring effort except Hibbert gets less than 10 and PG turns it on and scores 28. pacers by 2.

2014-05-20 06:20:06 PM
Oh Joey Crawford is officiating tonight. Well...looks like there will be lots of fouls called when he can get some camera time...runs and lead changing plays will be whistles dead a lot tonight

I predict that in tonight's game, Kane comes off the bench to score 15 points, is carried out after Haslem hits him from behind with a steel chair.

The smarks need to get over it.  Durant is not winning the championship.  Stern and Silver like their big guys with muscles too much and Durant doesn't have the look.  The casual fan is not going to believe that a 170-pound player as the best in the world.

You know what the NBA needs? Gratuitous nudity. And I'm not talking the Greg Oden sex tape. I'm talking cheerleaders acting like primetime strippers. You already have the hip hop gangster feel. Let's go all out and turn it into the 1920s style gangster with the strip club/gin joint.

Solution: steroids. But do it under the table like. Have him get fertility treatment like Robert Mathis.

I'm a size 12 Wizard Hat, but yeah Crawford will make a mess of things somehow. I still think the Heat will win though, can't see them going down 2-0 to a team that has been rather spotty.

Thanks for the TF btw, I'm going to enjoy it during the playoffs and World Cup.

Is this the NBA for the lottery?

My guess:
Bucks (New Owner tends to win)
One of the middle Boston,LA, Sac combo (my guess Sacramento)
Philly

My hope
Bucks because why not
Denver (for lulz)
Philly

Cleveland has botched too many of these. Dammit Cleveland

Yeah, well.  Owners want something to point to next time they want to whine for new stadiums.

Spoiler alert #2 - Atlanta gets the 2019 SB

This is the second best suggestion I've heard for the NBA.  #1 - Once a team is eliminated from the playoffs, no commercials featuring that team's players can be aired.

Agree there, it's stupid but how they are doing it.

Except for Cleveland. Cleveland is never seeing a superbowl barring some sort of sports movie level hijinks
