OK, I count 12 stars on his uniform and we don't even see the entire upper half of his body.

Do you suppose he became sheriff to hide the fact that he's a brony?

Maybe.

As long as he doesn't have blue diamonds below his belt.

At the turn of the century we found a better paths for spending our treasure than rebuilding our own country and communities.  I mean just look at the paradise we created over in Iraq and Afghanistan with our billion$ (trillion$ by 2017).

Aw shucks Beev, the world sure is a better place, and by-golly it's sure is easier to avoid taxes and pocket cash when it's spent outside the country.

Golly.

Yes, the fear spread by groups like the NRA has caused an increase in concealed carry permit applications.

Sounds like it's a terrible neighborhood. You know, when you don't enforce code or repair basic infrastructure like streetlights you get bad neighborhoods. I'm not saying a clean, well-kept neighborhood is the solution to violence, but it sure helps.

Nope.

I'm making the point that news reports that make something seem more common than they actually are tend to misinform the public.

This will get fairly widespread coverage, because, well, it's funny in a way.

And people will see this, and they'll see other stories about crimes, and they'll get the incorrect impression that crime is as bad as it's ever been, when in fact it's not been this low since before I was born, nearly 50 years ago.

Go ahead and read that link.  Most people think violent crime is up, when in fact it's gone down by *HALF* in the last 20 years.

You got it backwards, sonny. These people are poor and "urban". They're the reason some Real American on 200 acres in Buttefarke, ND needs fifty-five semi-autos laying around in his living room with 500 rounds each piled up on the furniture.

Also, they're the reason Mitt Romney's taxes are too high.

Trash building up too. Sounds like all the city utilities have decided that going to that neighborhood is not worth risking their lives. Can't say as I blame them.

My husband's firetruck has been shot up before. Seriously? They were coming to help, its not like they have bulletproof vests or anything...so they turned the truck around and wouldn't re-enter until the area was made safe by police. Very sad that it took so long because the injured person didn't make it. Then the residents were pissed about that. Makes no sense....

OK, so, let's look at the facts as presented in the link I posted:

1. Violent crime is down by approximately 50% in the last 20 years.  That includes homicides by firearms.

2. Public polling shows that 82% of the people think that violent crime has either gone up, or stayed the same in that same time period.  Only 12% correctly think it has gone down.

What interpretation would you give those facts?   Do you *LIKE* the idea that the public is misinformed on the subject?
