Well, if you're going to deal with the burden of carrying firearms (and they're not light and can be quite bulky), why would you do so without ammunition?  Plausible deniability on a felony brandishing charge?  That's a pussy maneuver!

The only way to stop a guy with a gun is another gun so technically he's in the right here.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office says the 28-year-old Massa has a license to carry firearms for hunting and target practice. He faces a civil penalty for violating the terms of that license.

He would probably argue the people he was planning on killing represent target practice.

In the old westerns, when one was out of ammunition, the logical progression was to hurl your six-shooter at your nemesis.

And ...

A seven-shot six-shooter, that is.

Meh, out of towner doesn't realize he's entered a disarm area until he's already in it, turns around to leave (I assume to stow the sidearm in the car), gets arrested once he's exited the area but is actually technically legal at that point, gets slapped with a bullshiat charge by a mall cop with an inflated sense of self-importance.

Sure, there's a strong element of dumbass there, but not exactly sinister machinations going on.

I'm missing something. He turned around before passing through the security check area... but how/why was he arrested as he was leaving?

"Massa's wife, Sally Jenkins, tells the Boston Herald (bit.ly/1jtrx8P) her husband realized he wouldn't be allowed in when he saw the security area and was arrested while leaving. She was at the commencement to see her sister graduate.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office says the 28-year-old Massa has a license to carry firearms for hunting and target practice. He faces a civil penalty for violating the terms of that license."

So this dumbass knows he is only allowed to carry for hunting and practice yet he was walking them in.  You are complaining that he got cited?!   This guy clearly broke the law and that's ok with you?  If he's carrying to the Graduation (which is plainly not hunting) that would mean he's concealed carrying everywhere.

From the article, I don't think he was legal to start with.

Yeah I would guess he either started pulling them out or he loudly told everyone that he has to take his guns back to his car?

Or it was like those DUI checkpoints and when he got close enough to realize he drew a retardedly high suspicion when he got out of line and fought his way through the crowd going the wrong direction.

That would be a pretty big flag for most security people.

Guns are always loaded.

2014-05-19 01:50:07 PM
I've read Boston has stricter gun laws, but it's not NYC, you can carry if you have the permit, the guy is an idiot though, you can't carry at a college.

All I can say is, pray to the FSM that when your kids graduates, a sitting POTUS does not give the commencement address.  Clinton spoke at my step-daughter's graduation, and it turned whole thing into a major pain in the ass, with all the security one had to go through. SS snipers on the roof above you.  It was a memorable day.

It's up to his local police chief. And since he was issuing target & hunting restrictions already, I suspect he will see it as sufficient reason to revoke.

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." says every gun owner, ever.

Yeah he's not going to have that anymore.

They only issue those around Boston from what I've heard.

A sane man would argue that allowing to carry for only those purposes viates the whole self defense finding in Heller.

It's all over the map.  It all depends on the Mayor/Police Chief.  There is a list here.

No one would ever describe the gun laws in Massachusetts as sane.  Even the police has trouble figuring them out.

Moron. Don't live in a communist state and remember to abide by that communist state's rules.

Seeing as how the state of Massholia doesn't even allow people to own swords, and seeing as it is run by organized crime, and enforced by a militia of dirty cops, I should think better of farking around with guns in that state.
I mean, they can act like assholes, and they can elect assholes, they can even deny they were the gateway for the 9/11 attackers, that is what you call states rights. But damn. I'd just steer clear of the whole state. Don't shop there. Don't visit there. It's like Yemen. Why would you want to go there?

i don't know if it was at this college or another one, but a coworker was in boston over the weekend to attend a relative's graduation...the commencement speaker:
jim koch, founder of sam adams beer
she showed pics of him afterward surrounded by graduating women, and of a bunch of grads with big glasses of beer

You shouldn't be bringing a sword to a gun fight anyway. They teach you that in the Hahvahd Yahd.

This moran's wife was on the news last night, on NECN. She actually made a comment to the effect of "It's only a 9mm, it's barely good got enough power to shoot through practice targets." I wish someone could find the feed of it. These people are not sharp at all.

No worries for me. Paid $843,000,000 in tuition for 4.5 years, and was rewarded with a Commencement Speaker from the University faculty.

Wait, what?

Now, some states have some odd laws on blades.  I know in Virginia, you're only allowed to have a sword in your car if you're going directly to or from your home and a place of martial arts practice *or* a play in which you are a participant.

If you stop for gas on the way back from Hamlet, you're a criminal.

yes yes, we've all been reading quite a bit about the laws in Virginia lately on the main page of FARK dot com.
That ought to tell you all you need to know about Virginia.
