Nobody should wear ties, but in the case of doctors you make a good point.

A coworker of mine once got his tie stuck in a paper shredder.

Well, yeah, I'm generally against having to choke yourself all day. And paper shredders are a hazard. But my father is a doctor and actually managed to convince the hospitals he works at of this after seeing a study. Because it's true, and because he hates wearing ties.

So yeah. I don't have the access to cite a study, but I strongly recommend any doctors on here do a search and free yourselves from your germ-infested nooses!
