Jebus, how much does someone have to drink for it to get that bad?

Will too much beer do that to you?

Just put some sheet music in front of him. That will quiet down many a guitarist.

My buddy used to work VIP in a club so sometimes we would go and hang out. One time all of Sum 41 showed up. The guy is like 5'2 and weighed no more than 120. I don't remember him getting hammered but I do remember being disgusted at how desperate the women were I'm in getting a chance to talk to them. Their fat bearded roadies were picking up chicks simply because they were there with them.

/Avril is still hot as hell

I highly doubt it was just alcohol. Prob lots of other drugs as well.

And put me in the "She's one of the few I'd put up with all of her shiat just to keep farking her," camp.

Poor fella.  It still won't end well.  Hopefully, he realizes only he has himself to blame.

That said, Chad Kroger is reportedly getting more & more of being part of a power couple.  Avril still can be quite a pistol.

I don't want to question the medical expertise of the Daily Fail, but I don't think "collapsed kidney" is an actual diagnosis.

Based on the article, it sounds like what they were trying to say was that he had hepatorenal syndrome, a complication of cirrhosis (especially with alcoholics).

Being in Sum 41 alone is enough to make you wanna drink yourself to death.  This came fifteen years too late.

Spending ten years either drunk or hungover will do this just fine.

I like Sum 41, but I know they're not very good. I had the misfortune of coming of age at a time when most music was shiatty, so this is the type of music I happen to be nostalgic for.

Yes, alcohol can't possibly do that to you, otherwise why would the government make it legal?    Only the illegal drugs can be that destructive.    According to the Seagrams and Diagio billboard advertisements, alcohol mainly just makes  hot women want to play beach volleyball.

Unless you have a previous condition or taking other drugs, no. You have to drink gallons of hard liquor to get that far that fast.

I saw him and Avril at a Steel Panther show.  She was drunk and acting stupid when they brought her up on stage.  He facepalmed the whole time and looked embarrassed to be with her.  They announced their separation a week later.

Knew a fellow who went through a case of Milwaukee's Best a day (or maybe more: it comes in 30 packs, so not sure how to count).

If you drink like that, you can probably finish the job by 40. Combine it with almost any kind of pills and you'll get it done even faster.

I'm too skinny to drink that much beer but at my worst I put away a liter of hard liquor a night, that's equal to 16 drinks, or 16 beers. So damn, what he put away was a lot.

Add any type of pills, especially Tylenol and it will fark you up.

Crudbucket: I had the misfortune of coming of age at a time when most music was shiatty

That's true of all ages. We remember Mozart but thankfully forget the 80% of his contemporaries that were shiatty. That's why it's hard to get into a genre you're not familiar with. If you randomly sample current Blues/Country/Rap/Rock/whatever there's an 80% chance it will be crap.

But here's the good news: It's okay to like shiatty music. I doesn't mean you don't like good music or can't tell the difference. When you get older and don't worry about being judged by your playlist, it's very liberating.

I feel like there would need to be percocet, vocidin, or similar involved on a regular basis here.  Maybe his system was just already weak?  That or he was really really really drinking hard.  I mean professional alcoholics can usually make it into their 40's and 50's.  To be that farked up he had to be mixing his addictions.

I was 25 when I had pancreatitus and was in the hospital for a week.  At 27, had severely elevated liver enzymes and started having seizures.

\34yo and sober now, obviously, or I'd be dead.

Yeah, I've had seizures but usually from withdrawals. Congrats on the sobriety.

About a fifth a day over a 5-10 year period will do it.

That first pic reminds me of George Best's last photos. Pretty goddamn scary, to be honest.
As I was saying before, one of my favorite singers (Midnight, from Crimson Glory) died from what just happened to this guy, except he wasn't so lucky and had a stomach rupture due to the liver and kidney failure. He'd been an infamously heavy drinker for a good 25 years (and a couple dozen DUI's under his belt), and had already planned his funeral months before he passed. Pretty goddamn sad and pointless death for such an immense talent.

One of my friends was coming pretty damn close to that years ago after decades of heavy drinking. Me and my friend had to lecture him (us of all people, who had the rep for being the village drunks), because his skin and eyes were starting to turn yellow, his nails were brittle looking as hell, getting suspended from work left and right, and he couldn't have been more than 100 lbs. at the time. He's somewhat better now, but not by much.

I can say by my own experience too long term alcoholism is farking hell. Never got as bad as this guy, but I've had siezures, hallucinations, rapid weight loss, alcohol poisoning, days worth of vomiting (blood on a couple of occasions) and all that fun jazz. On top of the personal theater of tragedy I made for myself and others around me. I had a 3 year period where it got especially bad (a fifth a day and waking up to a 6 pack to calm my nerves enough to work), and got sent to the hospital several times. As corny as it sounds, I'm thankful I have people around who care (and cared enough to smack me upside the head), or I probably would've drank myself to death.

Thanks!  Some of us just can't mix with alcohol and I've accepted that I am one of them.

Adding heroin on top of the alcohol will no doubt shoot a liver down even quicker. So there's a possibility.

Opiates don't really destroy your body like alcohol does (unless they're opiates mixed with Tylenol, obviously). If you compare a 20 year alcoholic and a 20 year junkie, the junkie will be in much better shape in both mind and body.

Once you start to combine the two, most of the long-term damage is still going to happen from the alcohol (or the aformentioned tylenol). Buy IG you take both, your chances of passing out and never waking up start to go up exponentially.

I dunno, Layne Staley's liver gave out from heroin at a pretty early age. It does have a pretty devastating effect on the liver. As per junkies who've made it 20 years into the problem, that's an utter rarity to be sure, and even ones I've known to do it for up to 3 years are definitely not exactly healthy by any means. Alcs of 20 years? Known plenty who are somewhat, if barely, functional. He doesn't seem like a junkie, so I'm going with pills (likely Tylenol for hangovers, or Vicadin, which I've known a few people to use for hangovers/withdrawals) combined with the booze. Unless he really really really hit that sauce hard as fark over the years and stopped eating (a key factor). Either or, he's likely looking at a liver transplant whether he has that next sip or not. If it's only 15% functional (when it becomes all out cirrhosis, and judging by how yellow he looks, that may be the case) then he's jolly well farked with one.
