Welcome to the "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" discussion thread and drinking game!

Episode 11: The Immortals
Life itself sends its own messages across billions of years. It is written within us, in our DNA. But will we survive the damage caused by our global civilization? Neil shares a hopeful vision of what our future could be if we take our scientific knowledge to heart.

Tonight's rules:

Neil says:

Billion(s) - big sip
Billions and billions - finish your drink
DNA - sip
RNA - sip
global warming - sip

I've watched the whole thing... can't believe its up to episode 11!  Doesn't seem like its been that long, I guess that's what happens when you're totally into a series.

I hope my son either gets off work early, or they work him an hour overtime tonight. He's scheduled to get off RIGHT when "Cosmos" starts here, and I'll have to go pick him up when he calls, therefore missing part of the episode.

If he gets off early, I can drink. If not, I'll have to stick with iced tea.

About halfway thru the episode, watch for the clip from Georges Méliès 1902 film, A Trip To The Moon.

Take on sip of beer for each film scratch or film dirt you see.

Old VCR doesn't work with new digital signals, and haven't had funds yet to buy a DVR.

You can buy a digital converter pass-thru box. Plug the coax into the converter; plug THAT into the VCR.

We need to have a teledildonics version of this where fundamentalists are given a slurp with a Fleshlight attached to a machine any time they hear something they don't like.

Also, you can watch it on the Internet - though I suppose you'd have to wait for tomorrow for the high quality stuff.
