If they tried to put up police tape around a few parked scooters that some idiot smashed into around here somebody would beat up the cops.

Call a tow truck and have that moved in five minutes or people are going to start complaining vociferously. No bodies under the Citroen (I owned a Citroen what a POS) move it out and lets get the show on the road.

A quick review of the "motorbikes" reveals that nothing of value was lost that day.

TFAThe accident, which coincidentally occurred in front of an eye clinic at 77 Harley Street, saw the female driver suffer minor neck injuries, police said.

Occurred in front of eye clinic: coincidental
Female driver: completely expected

She must have mistaken them for cyclists and then got confused.

Neck injuries were sustained when they yanked her head from her ass.

I say we hang him, *then* we kill him!
I say we stomp him!
Then we tattoo him!
Then we hang him...!
And then we kill him!

I saw some...unique parking situations in France.  Usually parking on the sidewalks, medians, and squeezed into impossible places.  I was only in small villages, but it was still "park where you can" situation.

Plus, I didn't see a single tow truck the entire three months I was over there.

See, in 'Murica, there'd be a biker gang ready to kick some arse over that.

[looks at bike pic]

Or maybe some commuting hipsters who'd whine about it.

That's a better 'parking' job than Paul Walker's buddy did.

Everything about this is lame and I feel lamer because of it.

Yes.  I was expecting a long article with multiple scenarios and examples.

This is... one picture?  Are we doing the BuzzFeed Permanent False Click Bait Crap Headline Thing now?

Biking is an extremely popular mode of transport around London - they're everywhere all year round. Cheaper to buy and maintain than cars, get much better gas mileage (which is a big issue when gas is several times the cost as the US), generally free parking, no congestion charge for central London and you're allowed to bike between lanes when traffic is slow or you're at traffic lights so your journeys are much much shorter. Tat and they're fun.

They're not a biker gang thing or a hipster thing - more an everybody thing.

CSB:

My office used to be in the same building as an ophthalmologist/lasik clinic. I would routinely watch people walk out of the clinic, unaccompanied and wearing those those dark goggles, get into their car and attempt to drive off. The curbs in the parking lot were not in good condition. Never saw anyone get hurt, though.

They should have sat a cop there and just hand out tickets to anyone who got behind the driver's seat in that condition.

I LOVE that idea... how come we don't see that everywhere today? It seems like such a great idea... what are they called btw?

Parking garages with elevators.

You do see it where real estate costs are high.

I have never seen one outside of that picture, one 007 movie, and iRobot.
There is no clever little name for it then... just parking garage with elevator? hell that could be a normal parking garage with a person elevator... that would be impossible to search.

Tokyo has a shiat-ton of them, from big monstrosities to little 10-car garages, and lots of other Japanese cities and towns have them since the tech is cheap there; they're more common than US style garages with ramps. I understand Chinese cities have quite a few as well.

The US infrastructure is all about big concrete monstrosities instead of big steel contraptions, so we don't get nice things, but they were actually in vogue here until the mid-50's suburban flight mostly killed the need.
