Good point.  Most guys don't want to rape until their early to mid teens.

they are probably victims of sexual abuse themselves. What 8yo boy even knows what a penis is for ? other than peeing through.

I was tempted to ask, "When does a kid that age even  learn about such things???"  Then I remembered what's on TV, in games, and everywhere you care to look.  Like it or not, kids learn about sex and violence pretty-much in the crib.  Most, though, also learn about acceptable and unacceptable behaviour - though that line keeps moving, too.

Honestly, I can't say as I'm surprised.  Disappointed, appalled... but not surprised.

TV and video games? Really?  You going to blame rock or jazz music next?

Personally I blame pinball and radio for society's downfall. Oh and the automobile

I'd bet money the kids were sexually abused themselves and just re-enacting what was done to them as a coping mechanism.

If anyone was ever going to follow up I'd bet we find a bottle of Androgel in the father's toiletries. Or mother's current boyfriend, I should say.

I saw that episode of House recently.

Are we operating under an assumption that mammals don't know how to copulate without being taught?

I remember being offered the opportunity by a neighbor girl when I was about 7. Made a complete botch of it before her older brother walked in on us, causing me to flee via the window. So I'd say no, humans anyway, don't automatically know what to do.

Thunderpipes: Even young children can tell the difference between reality and make believe.

Yeah....bullshiat. Not always. Not even close to always. Tell me some 7 year old watching GI Joe knows that laser guns aren't yet practical. Hell, when I saw Star Wars for the first time I wanted to be an X-Wing pilot when I grew up. Kids  need to be taught how to tell the difference between reality and make believe. That's part of good parenting. That's why some games, TV shows, and movies should be limited to older children. At least until after the parents have had a chance to teach real morals and critical thinking. I have no problem with a 13 year old playing GTA or COD (as long as they're not in my game. Can't stand those whiny voices). Once a child has been taught "don't hurt others" and can tell the difference between make believe and reality, than games and movies have a very minimal impact if any at all. But  absent any actual parenting, kids can and do assume what they see is real before they learn on their own what is and isn't.

To say that "young children can tell the difference between reality and make believe."would eliminate the whole idea of Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny. Yet millions of children believe in that until they learn later on it's made up.

In a vacuum, games and movies can have a negative effect. But that's still not blaming media. Parents are supposed to teach children right and wrong and fantasy from reality. Once they do that properly, the effect of media is negligible and in almost all cases entirely negated by good parenting. But without that good parenting, you can't really say it has zero effect if media is the only thing they're learning from.

Thunderpipes: Cpl.D: I want all the kids involved to get some serious counseling.  They can recover, maybe.  The parents?  I want them to spend the rest of their lives in jail.  After having every goddamned tooth knocked out of their mouths with a socket wrench.  With a few extra whacks just to make farking sure.

You need a license to drive a car.  You need a license to catch a farking fish.  But any incompetant asshole can have as many kids as they want and ruin dozens and dozens of lives and somehow that's protected.

This planet farking sucks anymore.  But I don't think for a second we didn't somehow earn it.  There's two things you can do when something's broke.  You can fix it, or you can throw it away.  So the question is, how can we fix it?  What the hell do we do?

This is a good post.

The answer is obvious, but will never happen. Have to pass a serious test to have kids. Income, background, psych, everything.

Oh, reason this would never happen? Democrats would never win another election after a generation or two. They could not survive without massive poverty and kids squirting everywhere.

No, it's the violence aspect to it. They were hurting her, they knew they were hurting her, and they told her to be quiet. And there were two of them: a brother and sister. That means it's not just one kid who's a psychopath, and they're coming from the same home.

This. Also, can 8 year olds get erections, have orgasms, jizz? Ewww, it's gross thinking about it. When's puberty anyway? I thought it was around 11 or 12 or something like that. Get off my lawn, can't remember.

Boys can get erections at any age.  No, they can not ejaculate.  No idea on if they can have orgasms, but I'm assume so.

I remember when the girl upstairs showed me hers.  I was too embarrassed to show her mine, because it got all stiff.  Weird.

I musta been, like, six or seven.
