(NPR)   Today is Carl Kasell's last day on NPR. He kicked ass but never played a guitar. We love his voice, and salute his choice, to be on such a silly show as the star   (npr.org) divider line 10

Sorry to be a jerk.

Carl Kasell has left NPR.
His vocal cords took him quite far.
And though he did choose
Merely reading the news,
To us, he was always the star.

Pants full of macaroni!!: Has it been decided who his replacement will be?  It better damn well be somebody avuncular.

Bill Kurtis was pretty good when he filled in.

redsquid: This radio smug fest is one of the reasons why people hate liberals and intellectuals.
Also if Limbaugh or Beck were ever accused of inappropriate behavior with a minor we'd never hear the end of it.
Just sayin'.

Limbaugh has been accused of inappropriate behavior in the Dominican Republic, a country that is reputed to be a sex destination, around 2006. He definitely was found, on his return from there, to have illegal prescriptions of Viagra in his suitcase. And most people never heard about it at all.

To their credit, they make fun of themselves also.  I like the show a lot, and I am pretty Goldwater myself.

Rarely post here, but I listened to the last show.  Made me realize how long I've been listening to the show, and how it's going to be different now (different isn't necessarily bad, but it'll still be different).

Having the same feelings after the announce on "Michael Feldman's Whad'ya Know?" Jim Packard died.  Just that void.

Thanks for the years, Mr. Kassell!

LOL.

I loved the little tributes on the show, and definitely hadn't expected that last one
