ftfa - Scientists skeptical that mankind is causing the Earth's climate to change

Again even those scientist (all 15 of them) that could be bought by the GOP, won't say that the climate is not changing they will only say that man didn't cause this. GOP motto - If you must discuss something make sure first that the blame is securely placed elsewhere (preferably on Obama)

Sorry, but I'll take the word of a thousand climatologists over 15 "scientists" and unnamed weathermen.

FTFA: "As independent scientists..."

Implying other scientists are not independent, therefore conspiracy.

I could find 15 "scientists" who believe the earth is flat. So I think I'll stick to the opinion of those who publish their findings in peer reviewed journals and participate in conferences and real research. But I'm weird that way.

2014-05-17 08:11:45 AM
This is hardly a case of the smack being put down.

2014-05-17 08:12:38 AM
A retired geologist from a regional university is their expert? Well then.

2014-05-17 08:40:43 AM
I read a book by a geologist on how the great flood occurred simultaneously on mars and other planets

Where's your science now?
Suck it libulardos

If you think CO2 is causing global warming, quit exhaling.

They have the former Chief Economist for Exxon Venezuela! Well, I'm convinced.

I took that to mean that they've been paid off by the oil/gas companies individually instead of en masse.

are these "scientists" climatologists? because there are a lot of different fields of science, derpmitter.

The desired result is that an informed populace can hopefully put this type of work in proper context. It's not science and should not be treated as such.

When out of the first 5 signatories one is an Oil industry stooge and 2 are religious nuts that think that God is in control of the climate and that there is nothing we need to do about it, we really don't need to waste any more time taking them seriously.

I'm sure there are some crackpots. They just don't make up the majority, or control the conversation.  As for Industry stooges, which industry that has the millions of dollars to spend on influencing scientists to support global climate change would that be?.

Anyone notice that most scientist who disagree with man made climate change are geologist?

Maybe they just want the glaciers to melt so they have more rocks to study.

Look, no matter how much he protests, your podiatrist probably isn't actually a scientist. The kid that mows your grass isn't a landscaper, and it's probably likely that the guy you know with weed growing in his closet isn't a botanist.

15 "scientists". Sure. As compared to pretty much the entire rest of the scientific community, worldwide.

b2theory: It's not science

Because?

I have torn apart arguments(the several made in their "paper") such as theirs in too many threads. I am also busy staining woodwork.

But the things that stand out:
-They took no and offer no new data.
-They in no meaningful way fail to replicate or falsify the existing consensus of work.
-They rely on the inherent noise is atmospheric temperature measurements to make all of their points while ignoring clear trends that fit the models.

Most of all they are lazy. Demonstrate with evidence that you can double the CO2 in the atmosphere and have zero impact on climate or STFU. Gather historical temperature proxy data that is robust and shows the current data is hiding this "cyclical" behavior they keep talking about or STFU. Do actual science or STFU.

Really? So many websites are like that now. You turn on 10-20 scripts so you can read something, but turning those on causes more scripts to execute and you have like 3 layers of scripts to turn on to read the damned page. There will be dozens of scripts running. I've just started to say fark it if I can't read the page. I just don't care enough.

Ok, Mars. It has an atmosphere which is 95% CO2, to our 0.04%, and no signs of global warming.

Look, if you take a complex open system affected by thousands of variables and blame it all on CO2, then what can you do?I did get a kick out of the histronic person saying this year is the last year to turn back before the Earth is doomed.I'm in my 30s and I've literally heard this year was the year of no return for more than half my life. At this point, climate change is just a boogeyman to keep simpleminded folks in constant terror and therefore pliable.

Yes there are. It is warmer than it would be without the CO2. Replace Mars atmosphere with a Primarily Nitrogen atmosphere of the same density and it will be significantly colder.

Was your statement serious?

The entire rebuttal:

As independent scientists, we know that apparent evidence of 'Climate Change,' however scary, is not proof of anything, Science derives its objectivity from robust logic and honest evidence repeatedly tested by all knowledgeable scientists, not just those paid to support the administration's version of 'Global Warming,' 'Climate Change,' 'Climate Disruption,' or whatever their marketing specialists call it today." "

Note the lack of arguments or evidence-- they just simply stated that they don't believe it and tens of thousands of scientists were bribed.
