Holy fark someone approved that ad. What the hell were they thinking?

2014-05-16 12:34:20 PM
And I love the apology - "We deeply regret this incident".  As if it just kind of happened, and there was nothing they could do to stop the "incident".  Assholes.

The Ghandi one is actually neat, but still - the entire campaign is weird.

The ad, created for Kurl-on by Ogilvy & Mather's Asia Pacific branch, shows a cartoon image of Yousafzai being shot in the face by a gun and falling backward through the air with blood dripping from her head before landing on one of the company's spring mattresses and bouncing back as an inspirational survivor.

Encouraging children to jump on a bed is not cool. They could get hurt doing that.

When referring to a SNAFU it's company policy always to use the indefinite article "a SNAFU" rather than the possessive pronoun "your fark up"

Yup, that's pretty bad.  What were you thinking?

I don't know, apologizing for that seems like a great idea.

I used to dislike taking on agency work because the approval process can go on forever - or so it seems. I can NOT believe someone actually signed off on that.

Yowsa.

Holy crap.

Dildos are by definition fake. These guys seem more like the real deal. A small, wrinkly, smelly, unwashed version of the real deal.

It would be, if it was a real apology and not, "We have no idea how this happened! WHOOPS!"

When did they bounce back?  Are there zombie John and Martins?  What about Abraham?

This is a bounce-back thread.  Go find the assassination thread.

Here, take this with you - Know the similarity between Abraham Lincoln and the guy who sat in front of PeeWee Herman?

They were both shot in the head in theaters.

But there's no outrage against secular bigotry.

Double standards are awesome!

Next up, showing a guy peeing on your grandmother's grave and how you can get the same feeling from one of their mattresses.

Dear God, this actually went through a committee of people and survived?  Everyone should think this is an alarming fact.

RE:  The new Lincoln seat belt restraint system

Guys, Lincoln tells me they're shooting for a 5-star safety rating with their new safety restraint system.  We need a 5-star campaign that has people talking and this is what we'd like to see.

Best Idea: We've licensed the Zapruder film and enhanced the "relevant" sequence with JFK flailing back and forth, but remaining in his seat.  Now, we need 10 good sluglines, something like:

"Lincoln, we'll keep you in your seat, even when you're losing your head."  or "Lincoln, doesn't take much brains to know..." guys, you know what I'm looking for, I've got a hard-on for a Clio and this one smells like money.  Let's run with this.

I think your on to something. As insulting as this ad can be, we can do better. Maybe that guy who got his face eaten by the dude on bath salts?

nah, people have forgotten about that. its not iconic enough.  it would be easier just to Americanize the ad by using Gabrielle Giffords instead of Malala.
