Gawdzila: vegaswench: Recoil Therapy: What's really sad is that Teemu's about to take his final shift ever...

Yes, this is sad.  He's always personified class and the right way to do things.  He will be missed.

Yeah, I liked him all the way back when he played for Calgary.  Super fast, super-skilled little guy, very fun to watch.

Calgary?  You mean Winnipeg?

One last thing...

Great salute to Selanne and pure class from both teams during the hand shake.

Bring on the third round!

vegaswench: The Kings staying out for Selanne reminds me of when the Canucks came out and gave stick taps to Ryan Smyth on his last night.  Very classy.

See you hockey hooligans tomorrow.

Yep, even though they took out my beloved (& battered) Ducks, I'm hoping they go all the way because of what they just did.

/plus I really don't like the Habs or Rags & am kind of 'meh' about Chicago

swahnhennessy: For years you dorks have disparaged the NBA threads, with comment count being the main deduction, but how many of the posts in those threads are about commercials, karaoke bars, posturing whiskey selections or badges? I've been around longer than most of you, and have no need to defend my love of hockey - but, really, these playoff threads just get worse and worse for me. I get that the internet is populated by shut-ins - hell, I'm a part-time hermit! - but, yeesh.

To be fair, I do like you hockey Farkers for being more than just failed jocks or rabid fans (most - not all). I'm just sick of the sameness year-to-year in these proceedings.

I don't want to speak for everyone, but most of the making fun of NBA thread post counts is because of the constant leg-humping that ESPN does to the NBA. Obviously they broadcast the games, but this time of year if you listen to ESPN Radio, there is zero mention of the NHL. They would rather debate if LeBron clipped his toe nails properly before the game than talk about anything good that might be happening in the NHL.

As a fan of hockey, it kinda gets you pissed that an inferior product is over hyped because the major sports network shoves it down your throat.

You like hockey, you know that the drama of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is incredibly superior to that of the NBA.

So you can call it to the fact that hockey fans are insecure, but we all know we enjoy a superior product, and it frustrates us that people think that a bunch of guys fouling each other to make two minutes last 30 mins gets more publicity than a sport that deserves more than it gets.

/that's my final long-thought for the night.

And for home ice considerations, the final four are seeded as follows:

1- Chicago (7th in NHL)
2- Montreal (9th)
3- Los Angeles (10th due to losing ROW tiebreak to MTL despite sweeping the Habs during the regular season)
4- NY Rangers (12th)

Regular Season Records

CHI- 3-0 v LA, 1-1 v MTL (both games ended in OT), 0-2 v NYR
LA- 2-0 v MTL (including a 6-0 killing @ MTL), 1-1 v NYR
MTL- 2-1 v NYR (1 MTL win in OT)

Fochstockings: pockypimp: The bar went nuts for 5 minutes. Someone accidentally pulled the power to the Direct receivers.

Maybe it was a ducks fan...

It was great, my friend had the NBC sports app up and running on his iPhone pretty quickly so we were crowded around the table shouting out play by play to the rest of the bar.  Best part about the power getting turned off briefly, owner gave out free shots to make up for it.

No idea.  Power went out about 6:30, flickered back on a couple times around 8:00, and didn't come back till about 1am.  I've got a low-power generator, so I could keep a couple lights on, but running the computer and my internet setup wasn't happening.  Looking outside, pretty much my whole block was down.

And I caught Teemu's final shift/postgame on TSN this morning.  Thanks, though.  Appreciate it.

If something like this ever happens again (granted a random power outage at the same time as the Ducks being in a Game Seven situation IS pretty rare.... but you know what I mean) give me a shout.  I'm about 20 min ssw & you could always race down here & fight the kids/dog/ferret for couch space.

Glad you were able to see Teemu's bit.  My hatred of the Kings pretty much went away when they stayed on the ice & didn't celebrate all that much just to be able to salute him one final time.

/still loathe Brown though
