Both of them are a complete joke.

But at least one of them believes the earth is older than 6,000 years.

He still is.  He just happens to think Ken Ham is causing more damage to the faith than Pat's hatred of the gay.

There is always room to stake a even more Jesusy position than they guy who came before, and to these types extremism in the defense of "morality" is no vice.  Someday, someone will pop up to the right of Hamm (perhaps calling for returning to executing criminals by stoning instead of lethal injection)   and then a guy to the right even of THAT guy (calling for including wearing cotton-wool blends on the list of capital crimes)   until you some day some up and comer will be forced to ask "how much more Jesusy can I ber?" and the answer is none.  None More Jesusy

I've been wearing this goatee for years waiting for the wormhole to open up and suck me into the Spockbeard universe where everyone acts like a pirate.

Still waiting.

[encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com image 133x90]

Kenned ham is pork that has been cured, pressed into a can, and steam cooked. The result is a very stable, albeit somewhat bland, food product. Unlike conventional ham, the Kenned variety will keep in less than ideal conditions, and since it tends to be made from cheap ingredients, it is a cheap source of protein. One of the most famous forms is SPAM®, a product that is not technically ham since it integrates several different cuts of meat.

And both of them make even the most conservative of the Liturgical sects roll our eyes (not that we don't have our problems, but seriously).

"Really Pat Robertson?" Ham said. "You mean there is no way God, the infinite Creator, could not have created the universe in six days just six thousand years ago? God could have created everything in six seconds if He wanted too!"

Reminds me of this:

"My dad could beat up your dad!"

You're mixing your Testaments. Jesus wasn't in the original Bible. He didn't get added until Bible 2.0, so technically all of that Old Testament stuff isn't "Jesusy". "Jewey", maybe? I don't know.

Yeah, it's gotta be at least, like 6200 years old or so.

...I know that Ken Ham has made a career out of missing the point, but the way in which he misses the point here is more severe than usual. A God who's willing to engage in solipsistic, reality-altering deception has a lot of unpleasant theological implications...

(Also, I bet that Ken Ham would still probably argue with Augustine, who made a similar point for different reasons.)

Pat Robertson celebrates Christmas and Easter, two of the biggest pagan holidays in existence. Nothing weird with labeling people by their actions, is there? It's not a value judgement. If you celebrate pagan holidays, people should be forgiven for mistaking you for a pagan, if you aren't one.

Is there an interview out there where someone asks Hamm the simple question of his Bible is the same as every other version, let alone the same as the LAST translation of his version before this one?

I think we need to sit down with a modern Bible and try to recreate Ussher's arithmetic and see what Hamm has to say about that. Hell, Ussher used pretty shaky numbers when he came up with this stupid theory.

I hope this tiff between Pat and Ham descends into the same kind of contest. With live chat lines while viewers watch the corpse rot away.

Ya know, I can't help but suspect that both sides see what they want in that image. To me, it makes Ham look like a fool who isn't worth dealing with since he's wedded to his idea. But I'm sure to his supporters, he looks like a hero for standing by what's right in the face of dastardly eggheads trying to take advantage of them. The one whose faith is strongest wins. I'm sure that's very attractive to them, because "faith" they can do; it doesn't require any effort or study.

Especially as The Bible, (not this current version of it, but lets go with the original put together version, where various Bishops took in various bits, and took out others), was done WAYYY after the time of Yeshua, aka Jesus. That Jewish Rabbi.
