My family's been a Turkey-mining family for generations. My great-granddaddy was a gobbler-loader down in the deep Turkey seams of West Virginia. I heard he died from feather-lung back in 1908.

Oh, Assistant to the PM eh? Very nice. And how'd you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers. By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society.

Interestingly if you read the article, seems the guy was kicking the car the rep was riding around in.  Doesn't make it right by far, but I do know that even down the street from where I live, if you run up and start kicking the shiat out of someone's ride for ANY reason you're probably looking at the same kind of arse-beating (Ok probably a substantially more efficient one frankly.)  Does that make it fine and ok, or the protester a horrible bad man?  Nope.  Does it make it somewhat understandable how that could go down, beyond "Peasant I keel you!"?  Yerp it does.

Entirely possible that we're looking more at "OMG you hosed my car you shiathead wharglegarble spaz attack!" than "the peasants are revolting!"

/reiteration: still not cool, and most likely the end of his career.  Doesn't pay to snap like a twig, even if you feel provoked.

If you look at the full sized pic, you see the guy's other foot, I think this dude still managed to kick him. I'd be more worried that it loks like the soldier's finger is on the trigger. People have been killed before from sympathetic reflex. In a stressful situation, one hand can tense and the other does it by reflex, and people die.

Good point, and it speaks a lot about the professionalism of the Turkish army, or whatever armed force those men belongs to. And while we are at it, who in his right mind thought that it was a good idea to send in soldiers armed with rifles to deal with presumably unarmed protesters? They have no police force trained in riot control?

And as a side thought, I would expect the soldiers to handle the guy in the suit the same way as they handle the other guy - after all, this kick means they are being attacked. Looking at this picture it is clear that they are unable to control the situation in any way.
