Until you get a positive response from this site http://www.canistream.it/ every time, from the streaming position, piracy will continue.

I figure if you aren't interested in selling it then you don't have a right to complain about piracy. That's doubly true from the business perspective.

"Sir, people want to watch these movies/shows so bad that they are stealing them"
"Ok, well let's start suing them"
"Maybe we should offer to sell them instead?"
"LOL, GTFO"

Yep.  I can afford to pay and will for a good series but when there is lag time between availability and when the program aired, I'll go grab it off a newsgroup.  Luckily, they seem to be getting better about that.  I either have the show available on Hulu+ or on Amazon for a small price per episode.

Hulu+ is tedious - commercials even though you paid and their search totally sucks balls.  But at least they have the show the next day.

I have 196 things on my instant queue right now. About 55 to 60 are for the kids. The rest are shows I am interested in watching at some point and haven;t found the time.

YMMV of course, I am just stating that ya'll are crazy if you can't find SOMETHING interesting to watch on Streaming.

Same here. Amazon seems to be the better of the two and has a much better recommendation algorithm. Netflix's recommendations are all over the place.

See, I don't care about lag time all that much.  I'll get to it when I get to it, with rare exceptions (a mentality I think comes with not having cable for a vast majority of my life).  The only thing I torrent right now is Last Week Tonight because it simply isn't available anywhere else.

There's this totally cool thing called a "concert" that people go to, in order to hear or see an act they enjoy. You should check one out sometime. You may even find an answer to your question while trying to buy tickets.

So if you don't want to pay the 100 to 150 to see the Rolling Stones you can go to the local bar and see a band for the 5 dollar cover.
You don't need concert tickets. Are you a 16 year old girl trying to see One Republic? Even if you are you're not really going to die if you don't see them.

I'm struggling with that show. It got really messy in the third season. Every time they seem to get ready to fill us in on the backstory of why things are the way they are, they do some time jump thing and it all gets tossed in the air.

Ok, that is not legit. Also, you have to register to use the streaming features of it. Some people who click that at work may get a call from the IT dept.

Wasn't even talking about the actual ticket price- if you think an $18 dollar "handling fee" on a $25 ticket that's purchased electronically and printed at home isn't "gouging", you must work for Ticketmaster. It may not be the textbook definition since it isn't an "essential good" but I doubt you'd find many people who wouldn't think it is.

Also, Rolling Stones tickets start at about $400.

I generally ignore promotional material, but yes, that is much better. 'Alec' still looks tiny, but he probably is.

As much I am uncomfortable with the third season(I'm at ep4), it still does make you think about where we are headed, and the thoughts I have give me butterflies for my children. Great show all around.

I stopped watching TV and just watching Netflix.  I haven't seen Fringe and been binge watching 2-3 episodes at a time, damn that's a good show.  Plus they have over 20 episodes per season which is kind of rare lately.  Just got to episode 6 on Season 2.  I can't wait to cancel DirecTV (not that it was bad) it's just a waste of money.

Makes sense. A lot of piracy was done just because it was easier than the legal methods of watching movies. Most people are honest, unlike those upthread....

So don't buy them? Did you die? Did you have to go hungry? Did you lose access to clean water? Did you have to sleep outside?

Unless the stadium was a third empty the tickets were not over priced. If they sold out in less than 24 hours they didn't charge enough. If there are scalpers selling tickets for damn near double of face value the tickets were too cheap.

grinding_journalist: Also, Rolling Stones tickets start at about $400.

Had Hulu+ for 3 months as I prepaid it for that period, I watched it for a week and then went back to downloading the episodes via torrent. Can't stand commercials once the show starts and especially can't stand when I see the same one 3 times during a show. At least with Youtube theirs are only at the beginning and give you the option to skip.

Just like iTunes and other music sites where you can legally buy music completely stopped people from pirating music.  Same goes for any video content.

Free TV is teh most awesomest site on teh InterWeb Thingy.  I've been able to have many marathons whereby I either burn through an entire season in one weekend (ie Archer Season 5) or keep current with my favorite shows by conveniently watching when my schedule allows (Continuum, Walking Dead, Mad Men, etc).

The only time I bother to watch local programming (no cable where I live and I'm not paying for satellite) is when spring/fall storm season kicks into gear.

Yup.  Pirating movies or software is a giant pain in the ass compared to firing up Netflix or Steam.  Even college kids, who generally have lots of time and no money, aren't interested in going through the gyrations of illegal downloads, especially if the consequences of getting caught are losing network privileges on campus and/or expulsion.
