Masses of angry, young, sexually frustrated young men in largely rural, heavily armed, socially conservative states? Awesome.

Le Mars needs women.

PRO:  Ladies, it's the Ice Cream capital OF THE WORLD!

CON: Unfortunately the men have been hitting the Rocky Road heavily in your absence.

Shepard said he wanted to learn whether young women were staying in rural areas or returning home after college at the same rates as young men.
"Where some of the men can come back, because there are a lot of traditionally male jobs like agriculture and industry to return to, many rural communities don't often provide the same opportunity to women."  Shepard said. "Additionally, many of these communities place restrictions on abortion or take measures to shut down women's health clinics, hold rallies protesting fair wage acts, and suggest that it's not that bad when high school football players rape young girls. Surprisingly, it seems that once they've left such communities, many young women apparently forget to come back."

In an area of the country hostile to the rights of women?

Wow... that's possible.

It's always been like that in the plains states. Wyoming was the first state to allow women to vote, mostly as a gimmick to attract women to go there.

Darn, only applies to small towns. I was hoping that I could use that as an excuse for not getting any.

If they just make it MORE difficult and restrictive, women will know they are valued.

It has little to do with politics and a lot to do with the type of work.  Denver has been called Menver for ages because it's a hub for male oriented jobs, like oil, gas, ranching, mining, transport, etc.  It's worse in more rural towns like in Wyoming or South Dakota where the only jobs out there are in oil or gas

So the parents were having male children instead of females because it would be easier for sons to find jobs locally?

Guess changing some laws such as antiabortion to make the state more woman friendly would be out of the question.

Just going to have to make "Bride Kidnapping" from other states legal.

So women who do manage to leave a culture that prides itself on its insolence, its ability to resist change, don't feel like that's the best option for them to return to? I did not see that coming.

Don't worry though. What they don't mention is that the migrants who come to work the fields are increasingly settling down, raising families. I predict a population boom in the great plains actually. The awesome part is it'll be primarily Latin American. All that cheap labor the farm owners imported in will settle down and suddenly the population will be a lot less red neck and a lot more brown face. It's going to be epic when the balance tips over and immigrants (both legal and not) start demanding their rights.

The rest of the statement (note the sentence structure: x people in y states) is demographics, colored by your own projection.

So... they legally carry guns to rallies ( I assume that's what you meant by rally's)?

Who is threatening to shoot federal employees?  I don't know any conservatives who have done that.

Who actually shot a congressman?  The only one I can think of was the Gabby Giffords shooting, but he was registered independent, and the people who knew him said he was neither left nor right of the political spectrum.

except it was debunked as a an idiotic breitbart-type stunt dozens of time.  It's yet another way to derail a debate that we have to have in the US to survive.  Try to talk in an intelligent way about what OWS was about and someone always brings up feces.  It's a great example of how real political debate in the US has ended.
