Don't worry, laugh track makers.  Big Bang Theory is going to be on indefinitely.

"Two and a Half Men" is like Jeff Glodblum's character at the end of "The Fly". It's some horrible/pitiful human/dog/fly/machine combination that pulls the shotgun into it's mouth and begs Gina Davis to kill it.

My dad will be distraught.

/actually he only watches the reruns with Sheen, he hates the replacement guy

I'm pretty sure that Two and a Half Men ended 9 or 10 years ago.

I mostly recall the Brady Bunch in this regard because there were a few particular laughs that implied the same guy was present at every taping.

Ashton Kutcher has already signed on for the 'Three Men and a Baby' reboot premiering this fall.

Frederick: But it was just as good without Charlie Sheen -right Chuck Lorre?

Kutcher added a lot of new life to the show. Sheen was coasting in the last few (say, eight) years and the character couldn't convincingly develop. The removal of Sheen allowed the entry of actual stories behind the one liners and it became less disposable. The recent addition of Amber Tamblyn has also helped. Though Charlie's daughter and sharing the same proclivities, she has had more development over half a season than Charlie's entire run.

/Like the show, wife LOVES it.

12 seasons beats Cheers, Frasier, Married With Children, and MASH, which all ended after 11 seasons.

Now, if you consider Ozzie and Harriet to be a comedy, they win with something like 20 seasons.

/yeah, the Simpsons has been on for 25, so the writer should have included the phrase "live action" in there to be technically correct, which is, of course, the best kind of correct.

I've caught an episode here and there and can think of two reasons to watch it, but I didn't care for it.  The forced "Office-like" faux documentary has been done to death.

It's the Phil Dumphey charecture....he's really starting to get annoying. It's overdone.  Actually all the charectures are jumping the shark. Yea, even Sophia Veragra.

2 Broke Girls is terrible.  I still like Modern Family, though I'm getting sick of Cameron and Mitchell.  Their story line has been beat to death for about two years now. The kid that plays Luke Dunphy gets a lot of the good lines theses days.

I've never understood how there has not been outrage about her character.  She seems almost Stepin Fetchit in her portrayal.

mjbok:

Had to look that up, but yes.

Hate the little adopted asian girl too.

The only interesting thing is watching how they try to hide the enormous cans on the younger Dumphy girl.

Interesting trivia: Julie Bowen (Clair Dumphy) was preganant in season 4 and they did a very good job in hiding it from the camera

I really wanted to like 2 Broke Girls, just couldn't get into it, very MEH. Modern Family is about the only network comedy (besides anything on CC) that had interesting character development. Sometimes predictable but very good writing for the most part. It should end though and not putter out like The Office did.

this! I love pointing out the laughtrack to my gf. i do a countdown from the beginning of the show until the first huge braying laugh at something. usually 4-5 seconds.

/then its usually 4-5 seconds until the show gets changed to something better

I think "The Butterfly Effect" was interesting and well done...if you don't think about it.  If you actually think about it the plot starts to unravel.

"Jobs" wasn't bad if only for the fact that it didn't white-wash Jobs and showed him for the douche that he was.

A fine example of what's wrong with TV shows... this thing is still on, so much money pissed into it, but great shows can't get pass a single season (or two).

"V", Journey Man, Brimstone, Hex, Moonlight, etc. for examples

mjbok: I've never understood how there has not been outrage about her character.  She seems almost Stepin Fetchit in her portrayal.

I'm not defending this, but I think the short answer is that they are very careful to label her more stereotypical antics  Colombian rather than  Latina. Like, listen for the word "Colombian" every single time--it's always there. They're very careful to make it arguably a matter of light-hearted national teasing rather than a racial thing, even though her character could have been given any nationality between Mexico and Argentina and it would have worked just as well for an American audience.

Given the default image most Americans have of Colombia, a mildly crazy woman with gigantic bazooms is a massive improvement, which is probably why Colombian-Americans aren't complaining.

In fact, the only time I can remember anyone getting upset is when her character had a joke that went roughly like this: "Oh, sure, you think because I'm Colombian I'm the idiot peasant with the drugs and the murdering, like a Peruvian!" Peru didn't like that.

Was it in their contract that that "meeeeeeeeeennnnnnnn" sound clip be played every 4.5 seconds?
