So from RTFA, misery builds character? I suppose we should thank the old rich white men for crashing the economy. (As popular and fun as it is to blame boomers for it, they're more like and artisans well made tools rather then a collective bloc.)

Stupid typo's. The article only says we might be less narcissistic, but did they factor in inflation?

I know one millennial personally. An oldest daughter wants parents to help her get an apartment. Single income around $20 an hour, two younger brothers ages 7 and 4. She graduates from high school shortly but didn't manage to line up any scholarships or grants.

Having beers with her parents the other night, her mom's going on about how crazy the teen is. I got to chime in with "Oh, come on, you don't realize you were just as crazy stupid at that age. If you'd been less crazy stupid you wouldn't have farked Donny without a rubber. And we wouldn't be having this conversation."

It was funny that boomers had the balls to say that about us in the first place.

My takeaway was "People who grow up poor are less likely to end up entitled dickheads". Of course that raises the question of "Maybe we should make it so everyone grows up poor". At least for a little while.

All the biatching about mellenials is starting to piss me off. Yes, there are a ton of lazy, ungrateful bastards in this generation. Just look at the hipsters, social justice warriors, ect. But there are a ton of lazy, ungrateful bastards in every generation. I mean, the boomers gave us the goddamn hippies. They were the poster children for being lazy, spoiled bums. Every generation has thought that the one replacing it is a bunch of stupid, lazy, entitled bastards. I'm sure in forty years time I'll be complaining about "kids these days with the sexbots and whatnot. Why, back in my day we had to get sex the good old fashioned way!"
Point is, don't generalize all mellenials, because we'll soon control your Social Security check.

They're no different than any other generation. Younger people are naturally more self interested, and they only seem more narcissistic because this is the first generation in history that has the ability to plaster every stupid thought they have on the internet for everyone to admonish.

To be fair, I've heard more complaining about the Millenials than from the Millenials.  And it's from the generation that raised them!  FFS, can you Boomer twits take responsibility for anything??

Mind you, the Millenials are colossally stupid and totally ill-prepared to face the uphill battles that will land on their heads.  But that's how they were raised.  They weren't raised to be people; they were raised like they were some bizarre combination of glass doll and mantelpiece trophy.

Actually I think social media and the Internet DO make this generation different. They have a smarmy know it all attitude because they pull their "facts" from Wikipedia. They for their cliques on the Internet and shout their talking points they gleaned from their Web friends. They don't deliver newspapers, pour concrete or do manual labor to earn their way through school. They accrue massive student loans and biatch like he'll when their first real job isn't paying them $80 per year. Then they blame the old folks. Yes, they feel entitled, yes they are shallow and materialistic and yes they spend way too much time on electronic devices. They ALL need 2 years of military service or Peace Corps beatdown to snap them into reality.

But the boomers have done so much for society that they new a break from taking responsibility. I mean look at what they have done.

The 1960s? They were too busy getting high and having sex fighting the administration for great justice!

The 1980s? They were too busy selling out their ideals to make a quick buck putting the country back together after Watergate, the recession, and Carter telling people that they need to STFU and calm down the Iran Hostage situation.

The 2000s? They were too busy being fleeced by con men to take their money and drive the economy into the ground supporting this country in the aftermath of a major terrorist attack by buying car magnet ribbons and criticizing anyone that dares question the administration (coming full circle)

I don't know what generation you're referring to; retirees don't have much to do so I never had any expectation but the opposite.  GenX is pretty much resigned to the fact that despite being significantly smaller and poorer than the Boomers, as the latter retire they will use their massive voting power to leverage Social Security into a giant machine that effectively enslaves us to provide for their comforts.  I expect Social Security benefits, Medicare and payroll taxes to all increase dramatically in the coming years.  We really only have one solution to the Boomers, and that's to bite the pillow and encourage them to continue the bad habits of their youth at our expense until they die off.  Then in thirty years when the Boomers are dead and GenX is old (if we're still around), the Millenials will use their voting power to screw us on the other end by ending the entitlement programs entirely, citing the insolvency caused by the Boomers.
