wildcardjack: I've finally managed to get all these ingredients without sulfites: Jewish rye, sauerkraut, grated horseradish. Put some pastrami and a slice of swiss in there, and heat through with a pannini press until lightly toasted. I know, not a grilled cheese, but since I've managed to source the first three ingredients without clogging my sinuses it's farking awesome.And Alton would have gotten the ire of my dad for burning the bread. He regularly yells at people for burning hamburger buns in both fast food and nice restaurants./Real sauerkraut is probiotic beyond yogurt.
Kirzania: You poor, poor things. And, to be specific, the only way grilled cheese should be prepared:Melt butter, one slice of bread, a slice of sharp cheddar cheese over med-low heat to allow cheese to melt. Add cooked bacon (or bits!) and thinly sliced Granny Smith, one more slice of sharp cheddar, top with one last slice of bread, with deli-style mustard spread on it... remove from heat, melt a little more butter, flip...It will change your life.
