(USA Today)   Oakland A's batter should have known better than to use Wham's "Careless Whisper" as his walk-up song, and waste the chance that he'd been given   (ftw.usatoday.com) divider line 44

Bunkosquad and I have a running discussion about this. He says the worst walk up song is the penny whistle solo from "My Heart Will Go On", but I think it's gotta be something from the Tori Amos oeuvre.

I'd say something from Diamanda Galas, or maybe Paul Pena's Jazz/ Tuuvan Throat Singing Fusion track  " Ghengis Blues"

Nah, that would be pretty cool. My walk up song is "Head Like a Hole".

I think I would have to go with "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald."

I would have gone with "Father Figure".

Yeah. That song is why I stopped going to karaoke with his friends. :/

It's funny as hell, and the crowd reaction is great.

But a guy hitting .228 should be working on other things besides his walk-up music.

That would have been best for Luis Polonia.

"Working on"? As in, he probably spent hours picking this out instead of hitting the batting cage?

That would almost certainly take the prize.

In the off-season this year, Reddick had a Twitter scavenger hunt in Walnut Creek. He  hid a bunch of his rookie cards all over town, then put clues out on the internet. He's a good guy. He robs home runs and doesn't afraid of anything.

2014-05-15 12:16:56 AM
I hope Reddick goes with Oran "Juice" Jones' "The Rain" next.

He's improving at the plate; being more patient, trying to hit for percentage instead of power, and has even been going opposite field away from the shift.  His fielding is enough to be in the lineup regardless.

I have similar discussions with my friends about what would be the worst entrance theme for a wrestler. We came to the conclusion that "Only Time" by Enya would be appropriately awful.

When my then 33 year old sister began dating a 23 year old independent league player he changed his walk up to The Outfield "Your Love" Mainly when they sing "You know I like my girls a little bit older..." I was at the game when he changed it... I laughed out loud when he had his first at bat and tipped the cap to him.

One of most awkward moments of my life was in the early 90's after Little Earthquakes had just come out I got tickets to a concert she was having in DC (didn;t realize she's from here at the time)  Since  a scalper owed me a favor (long story) and my GF was way into Tori, I got us front row seats.  Shortly before the show, a man in a clerical collar sat next to me, and introduced himself as Tori Amos' father.

Not sure which was more uncomfortable, seeing him sit through Icicles or Me and a Gun (which she actually broke down halfway through singing that night)

I'm thinking most James Taylor songs would make thoroughly horrible walk-up music.

Wicked Game would be a pretty awful walkup song.

I've always thought "Summer Breeze" by Seals and Croft would be the best walk-up song ever.

Uh, is there a joke here I'm not getting? Why is this a "finally"? It is because it's a recognizable song with a sad sound and limp-wristed lyrics? Is there something specifically applicable to baseball in the lyrics?

That's a pretty stupid reason for this to be a thing. That's like saying "someone FINALLY used Weird Al's "Albuquerque" as walk up music! SO EPIC LOLOL"

I'm not sure how much a RF adds to the whole defensive spectrum stuff, but it boggles my mind that he put up 2.2 WAR last year based on his offense.  He has 0.6 WAR this year (and since it is really a counting stat, it will go up) even though he isn't hitting.

Zach Walters (WSH) came to his first major league at bat (at home) to "Let it Go" - but then changed it a few games later to "Do you want to build a snowman?"

Pretty sure the rest of the Nats were hazing him into doing this.

Reddick needs to have Sexy Sax Man play his walk up music live in the stadium.

At this point B.J. Upton's walk-up music should be Phil Collins' "I Missed Again".
