So, just to comment on last night...a team blows a seven-point lead in the final fifty seconds and people are complaining one of the calls didn't go their way.

People are stupid.  Holy crap.

Same thing for the Pacers. One blown call and next thing you know you lose by 20

I'll add that the call that didn't go their way was the right call, no matter the weird explanation from the officials.

Yeah, even if it was a bad call, you can't blame the refs for the rest of the collapse. EVEN if it's three points, the only way the refs could possibly make a difference is if you didn't make the plays when you had to. biatching about the refs is weak. Weak-weak.

To follow on all of your comments, here's the thing: You know how basketball gets a reputation for shoddy officiating?  The reason it does is that in order to influence a basketball game with a whistle, you have to make bad calls over and over and over, because basketball is a sport which is heavily defined by the number of possessions that both team get.  It's not like football (either kind) or baseball, where one bad call can influence the entire outcome of a match.  To say that a call at the end of the game influenced the outcome is to ignore the hundred-plus possessions which came before it.  It's basically the form of tunnel vision you can expect from the people watching a league where the perception is that only the final two minutes of the game matter, and it's a dumb one.

Hell, Doc Rivers sucks for his conference.

I personally like when refs hedge things by basically going with halving the two sides. It could've been called a foul; it could've been ruled off the Thunder. You don't want to call the foul because that's too strong a punishment for what was going to be an awful attempt, but you don't want the guy to profit from hacking in there...so you go with no foul, but the Thunder get the ball. That way the players get a chance to determine the final seconds.

Honestly, when I saw the replay, that's what I thought they did, and they've just done a poor job of explaining that's what they did.  If anything, I think the league should take further discretion in allowing referees to make "neutral" or non-calls.  They do it to begin with, but I think it needs to be made more plain and obvious to the people watching the games.  This way, you don't end up with situations where the referees are going to replay and making the "wrong call", even if it's the one which makes more sense.

Well the problem is that, like you're saying, they're not allowed to say that they're doing that - if it's a foul, you're supposed to call a foul; if not, you're not supposed to. I prefer things to be handled morally rather than legally in most things anyway, though.

Like Sterling getting kicked out. Don't really care if it's legal. F*ck that guy, he deserves to lose his sh*t.

The previous hundred something possessions of the game resulted in a 3 possession advantage for the Clippers (7 pts).  OKC was able to make up 2 of those possessions on their performance, but the refs gave them what they needed to get over the hump, plain and simple.

The refs in every Clipper game so far have been absolute shiat.  Just pure, unadulterated, hot dog shiat.  That's a good chunk of why my Warriors lost.  From fouling out in game 1 to 0 fouls in game 2, are you serious?

I can see both losing tonight.  But I've been wrong on pretty much game so far.  Of course I'm only picking the Pacer games so....I'm not picking any worse than anyone else.

I predict Heat-Spurs, both tonight and in the Finals. But what do I know, at the start of the season, I thought the Pacers were going to be really good and got all smug when they started gangbusters.

Then play better in the possessions that got you there.  I know it's popular to compare the NBA with professional wrestling, but everyone makes it sound like the end of an NBA game is a wrestling match where the guys fight even for thirty minutes and it's rendered moot when the manager distracts the ref and the bad guys get a roll-up for the win.  Accounting for the "luck" presented by officiating is a skill in its own right, and a necessary evil in a world where we can't have computers make the calls.

James, Chalmers, and Bosh are are a combined 2/12. Pierce is 4/5. I honestly don't see that continuing for an entire game.

Bosh seems to be clutch at a 3-pointer from the corner toward the end of the game to seal the victory.  I feel it will repeat tonight.

that and the highest score of the winning teams tonight will be greater than the number of comments in this thread.

FTs for the series were even going into last night.  I didnt watch the game so I didnt get a sense for how it was being officiated.  There was large discrepancy in favor or the Thunder.  Someone was saying KD only shoots jumpers so there is no way he should be averaging 11 FTs a game.  I have never heard this come up before last night.  I am definitely going to be keeping an eye on it tomorrow.

All the said, the Clips lost a game they should have won because they lost their composure, they couldnt make a shot, their best player turned the ball over multiple times, and they were on the receiving end of a tough call (home cooking?).  It take A LOT for me to blame the refs and when they do botch a game it because they sucked that night not because the fix was in.

Now let's bury the ref talk until the next time all the people who stopped watching the NBA in the 80s/90s show up to tell us that the league we enjoy watching is rigged.

/think they will have a "home base" in NY handle all reviews next season

Tougher path to the top but a much better crew.  I think he made the right call.

When does Lebron choke to death? Or at least choke and lose to the nets. That's pretty bad too.

Brooklyn wants to take this back home. I wouldn't be shocked to see the Heat make a run and end this series though. I think Kerr took over a better team in Golden State, but man is it going to be damn tough to win in the west.

Another thing you shouldn't let Ray Allen shoot: free throws.

I like how they let Brooklyn think they'd have a chance before pimp-slapping them out of the playoffs.
