He's also going to repeal Obamacare.  As are all the rest of the gop candidates.  Somehow I don't think any of them have a clue on what the chances of that are.  Michelle Nunn is our best hope in Ga.

What he really means is raising taxes on poor people and the self-employed.

Well, he was the leading candidate...

In other news, the leading candidate for GOP's nominee for Georgia Senate is no longer the leading candidate for GOP's nominee for Georgia Senate.

The only real fight has been between the two potential runners-up, Rep. Jack Kingston and former Secretary of State Karen Handel, who are both vying for the second slot in order to make the July 22 runoff alongside Perdue.

Perdue has been running commercials nonstop about how he's going to repeal Obamacare and yet he's still less of an asshole than Jack Kingston (whose Obama phonecall commercials are hilarious admittedly) and Karen "I ruined breast cancer awareness" Handel (who I've seen no press for and didn't even know she was in it). I did see a commercial the other day where Kingston attacked Perdue for not being conservative enough or w/e the hell these freaks consider important.

2014-05-14 06:13:11 PM
I like the commercial where Kingston's kids talk about how he's a cheap asshole.

Yes.

Fiscal conservatism involves much more than tax cuts and deregulation.

In the ever broken "Household as federal budget" lulzworthy analogy, I always have the option of raising revenues by getting a better job or a second job.

Unless by "cutting spending" he means "getting rid of a carrier group and slashing defense" then he can sit in a corner and STFU.

2014-05-14 06:55:11 PM
Good for him. Of course, his plan of removing Obamacare and putting free market solutions in place is goddamn idiocy conservative boilerplate.

His commercials drive home his "outsider regular businessman going to washington to clean up the corruption" image. But, seriously, when running against dumbass Handel what else do you need?

Georgia is getting rid of an old out-of-touch career politician to put in a conservative caricature that will, at best, be insignificant and, at worse, be just as bad as Saxby.

Can Atlanta secede yet? We like public transportation, local businesses, and aren't as churchy as the rest of tue state. We even have the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus (formerly the Gay Boy's Chior).

Hell just help us pack up the whole city and move it to Colorado or something.

"Well here's the reality: If you go into a business, and I keep coming back to my background, it's how I know how to relate is to refer back to it-I was never able to turn around a company just by cutting spending. You had to figure out a way to get revenue growing."

The government should not be run like a business, dumbass. The goal of government should not be to maximize revenue as it would be in a business. The government does not acquire its revenue by voluntary means as a business would (or should) so this revenue gathering by force should be kept to a minimum. That's why spending should be kept low, to minimize the need to use force on people to extract revenue.

No, the goal of government is to provide that which society demands and which private industry cannot efficiently allocate.

Personally, I've been thinking we should run the government like a business. First order of business will be to sell off some worthless assets like Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama.  We would make some money, lose a significant portion of the nation's poorest and unhealthiest people, and raise the nation's collective intelligence.Where's the downside here?

difficulty: Falcons, Braves and Hawks...no one wants them, not even Atlanta anymore.

back to the topic, I am liking Nunn and would like to break-up some of the obstructionist republican brigade by sending a democrat from Georgia.  So, if I were to vote republican in the primary next week, which candidate should I prop up that can most easily be beaten by Nunn.

/the commercials are getting a little nutty with conservatives trying to out conserve each other.  Apparently, one of the topics of contention is being pro-common core or anti-common core.  I am curious what anti-common core even means?   are they planning on raising taxes to make up the shortfall when we lose federal funds by not adhering to the common core?  or just make every school a charter school,  I am confused on how this is an issue and what can be done about it.

Yes. Or, if not, just the ones on the upper brackets, Combine that with a minimum wage hike, then slash the military budget, and redirect that money into infrastructure and social programs. Then, when the economy has recovered a bit more, THEN raise taxes on the middle class.

Its possible from his experience running Dollar General that he very directly sees the impact of the poor on his bottom line. So "maybe" his economic policies are more middle road. His social policies are still stuck in the 18th century and that's what matters to most of his voters.

Sure, but remember we have to make sure that everyone else's infrastructure and industrial bases are largely destroyed in the process, so there aren't any competitors when the time comes to sell them stuff for rebuilding. There's no reason we can't pull it off, we just have to pay attention to details.

Yeah, raise taxes on the middle class and on the poor.

Raise taxes on the filthy rich? COMMIE!!!!!
