Sadly, God made bananas so they fit in our hand. So ultimately, isn't God to blame?

I thought someone already posted the OMG Bananas are going extinct! for this year.

But I forget, since all of those headlines sort of get mashed together.

You know what could help stop the spread of this fungus?

GMO that motherfarking banana.

It helped the papaya after all.  Even organic papaya is protected a bit because the ringspot virus resistant gmo papaya interrupts the spread of the disease.  It single handily saved Hawaii's papaya industry

I didn't mean to infer that he was a particularly praise worthy or omniscient god.  More of an arsehole.

This fungus was created by the GMO NWO in a lab somewhere in another scheme to wrest even more control over the world's food supply, and thus, the human race.

In the future, we'll all give thanks to our Supreme Mutant Gods for allowing us our daily bread.

So has anyone tried to cultivate a marketable paw paw yet? Because someone should really get on that. (They're supposed to taste kind of banana-like, right?)

Can't.
Or at least, not the usual way. All modern bananas are grown from cuttings, not seeds, so there are not gametes to tweak.

I guess once the bananas are gone, the third world countries' poor will just have to eat dirt.

Just stop with your lies. Evolution - SCIENCE - is ruining these bananas, the only thing that will save them is prayer.

2014-05-14 05:22:43 PM
That's OK, in the last decade or so, something has happened in the way that bananas are grown or processed that has caused them to only have a five-minute window between underripeness and overripeness anyway, and I cannot stand the flavor of an unripe or overripe banana. So that leaves me unable to eat them unless I either pay a ridiculous price for a single banana, or I can eat an entire bunch in five minutes. Neither appeals.

Buh-bye, bananas. I remember when you were a good thing.

and thats also part of the problem, since the world wide population is a single genetic monoculture it only takes one strain of fungus- or other disease- to be a massive disruption

Ketchup?

Put castor oil in the tailpipe before the potato. The car will start hard, run like crap, and heat up the tailpipe... when the potato blows, black smoke will billow out of the tail pipe, leading the driver to fear the worst.

Canton: So has anyone tried to cultivate a marketable paw paw yet?

Yes. Unfortunately, they remain recalcitrant pollinators and the fruit don't store well.

There's a reason apples and oranges are crazy popular. They're like the ideal market fruit.
