Yes indeed.  The "dingos ate my baby" meme might have mated with the Florida tag.

it happens quickly, but it looks like that cat pulled a pretty ninja move on the dog.

While the web page is West Palm Beach, the source of the video was in Bakersfield, California.

Bakersfield: all the WTF of the state of Florida, but with none of the beaches.

Good.

My first cat Alex was like the one in TFA. We were outside with him one day when a large stray dog began nosing around, getting uncomfortably nosy and close. Before we could get Alex and go inside, he fluffed up and took off after the dog, who was in shock at a large super-fluffed up orange cat charging at him. His nerve broke and he took off with Alex in hot pursuit; once the dog had left, Alex then returned looking very proud of himself.

/cat in the video should get tuna for life

Get this cat sushi grade tuna.

That kid was asking for it, taunting that poor dog like that...

Wow.

People, never underestimate fluffy. Cats are the world's most efficient predators and they can be viscous and lightning fast. I used to volunteer to round up feral cats. Believe me, they can fark you up bad before you know what's going on.

The dog owner should be hung for letting his dog be a weapon.  Kill the dog too.  Give the kitty a pork chop.  They love pork.

Why did the Mother just run off and leave the boy at the end?  Why did she not pick him up and take him inside?  Stupid woman.  Good kitty!

2014-05-14 01:17:50 PM
You have to understand the mentality of cats.

When he saw the child being attacked, he wasn't thinking 'Oh, no, I better go protect my friend' he was thinking 'Hey, that's MY dinner, I just haven't eaten him yet!'

The cat was just planning ahead and protecting his investments.

2014-05-14 01:17:56 PM
And it appears the cat chased him around the van to seal the deal on that ass-kicking.

Yeah. The ending of the video was not as good as the first part. Between mom leaving the kid and the gross open wounds, I would only give this video 4 stars. They all go to the cat.

That there's an Albanian Dog-Cat.  Bred in Albania for hundreds of years to fend off wild dog attacks, as they are want to do in Albania.

The only thing I was able to think of was that she was running around to the other side of the car to make sure the dog had completely run off, but its not clear from the video.  In any case, glad the kid wasn't more seriously injured, and really have to wonder why the dog would have been interested in attacking the kid.

Satan's Bunny Slippers: I had a big ole tabby like that years ago.  Good kitty.

A neighbor's German shepherd decided to attack our cat when I was a kid. Big mistake. He should have just snuck up on the sleeping cat and broke its back. Instead he came on from the front and loudly. The cat just laid there with eyes locked on the dog until it was in striking range. Before the dog knew what was up, the cat was all over the dogs head. The whole altercation lasted maybe three seconds and the dog left with severe very deep gashes on its head and less one eye.

Kill the owner. Rehabilitate the dog. Reward the cat.

Was smaller then him. Most dogs aren't particularly thoughtful.

From the articles comments, and I find it likely, the lady was running off at the end because she knew whose dog it was... she was probably going to confront the neighbor and make sure the dog was back in its own yard. If she saw her boy was mostly alright, maybe she wanted to make sure the dog didn't attack anyone else... or make sure the dog didn't turn on her cat. Of course, if it had, she might have been in for a world of hurt herself. I just don't think second guessing is gonna do any good. This is probably the best outcome for all involved after the point of the dog biting the boy.

Also, the suddenness of the dog going after the boy freaks me the fark out.

Or they could be motion detection sensitive, or record for two or three days at time before starting new, etcetera.  What is the relevance of this, anyway?

My guess is she was going to tear the dog's head off and make sure it never bit her babby any more.

The more you know. Its just one of those things I haven't really looked into because I assumed I would find the cost of installation and upkeep prohibitive.

Jesus.

When I first read the story; I figured that the kid had at least wondered into somebody else's yard or something. Nope, completely unprovoked, the kid was just minding his own damn business in his own damn driveway. And it's not like the dog went for the bike and got the kid; the dog obviously went for the kid.

And, I bet that's not the first time that dog has bit anyone either. The dog was shaking the kid's leg like a wolf would shake a deer's leg. I bet the dog is an intact male; just by the aggressive nature it displayed. And, was probably never socialized.

/ not a big fan of cats; but, that cat done good

I like how the cat came back to check on the kid as soon as he knew the dog was gone.

My cat does this all the time.  She will sit on her chair in the front of the house watching 150 dogs and their owners go by on the sidewalk.
But when my youngest son is outside in the front yard?  she will start to chase every single one that comes near the yard.
She follows us around the community when we go for walks but only when he goes with us.

Its freakin weird. stupid Catdog.

My last dog was terrified of cats after one of my cats went ape shiat on her.  The dog snuck up on our deaf cat, which it definitely didn't like and left a huge gash on her nose.  Dog never went near the cats again.

No kidding-a seriously angry cat is something you want no part of. It certainly seems to be handy to have one on your side though.

Pound-for-pound members of the cat families are far more dangerous and far stronger than canines.
Would you rather be attacked by a 100 pound dog or cat?
A 100 pound is is certain death, the dog you have a god chance of living.
As bad a bite will get at least with canines there are no gut-spilling claws.
