There is an old abandoned Church in San Francisco that has been converted to a roller rink.  It's crazy popular ~  http://www.skategoldengate.com/churchof8wheels.htm

But part of the big resurgence in skating is thanks to Modern Flat Track Roller Derby which started up in Texas in 2005.

At last count there were 243 full-membership leagues in the Women's Flat Track Derby Association and 115 leagues in the Apprenticeship program to become full WFTDA members.   http://www.wftda.com/leagues

The huge surge in popularity in derby in the recent years has prompted more people to get back into traditional quad skates.  The old-school skate/boot manufacturers like Ridell and Sure-Grip have totally modern updated cutting edge product lines now, and there are new manufacturers making incredible products.   My new Bont skates are an excellent example.

Go skating, it's fun, and good for you...

Working class white people hated disco because it represented everything they hated about the times:    whites fraternizing with blacks, homosexual acceptance, and a growing wealth divide epitomized by the cocaine and glamor excess of Studio 54 and its contemporaries juxtaposed with the obvious decline of US manufacturing jobs.

Wellon Dowd: Women were most beautiful in the 1970's. The previous decade had unshackled them sexually and convinced them to wear much less clothing, but they hadn't yet become convinced that they need plastic surgery to be attractive. It was truly a golden era.

Fact. Halter tops and short shorts.

AS a workng-class white here, I am going to have to say white people hate disco because it sucks.
