nocturnal001: Slaxl: nocturnal001: fluffy2097: nocturnal001: I see stupid people still believe that "average gamer = 300lb loser in basement" instead of "average person".

We're talking about the average gamer that would buy the ridiculous getup in the article.

Calm down. We all know you're down to 250. congradulations.

Very clever.

Of course I'm not "a gamer" and odds are in bunch better shape than you, but yeah, clever.

Don't be so sensitive.

I just don't like stupid jokes.

There you go being sensitive again.

Driedsponge: Break down a realistic picture of what it takes to play paintball on a regular basis and then tell me this rig would be more expensive than that. For the couple-times-a-year paintball player, you may have a point, but it wouldn't take long to rack up a bill much higher than this gaming rig.

Depends on what kind of paintball you get into.  Semi-auto, tanks, even a custom barrel, and a mask, you can easily go under 200-300$, to include your first case of paintballs.

Now, if you're going full auto and need to buy a fancy mask and uniform for league play sort of stuff or whatever, yeah, you're going to spend more.

As to the gear in the article:
1. The gun seems to be a glorified button pad.  ie it does nothing when you try to look down the sights.  That sort of ruins the immersion.  I don't remember hipfiring to be that easy/tight in CS either, so that looks wonky.

2. How do you crouch or go prone and jump? I can imagine strafing would be awkward.

3. I'm 6'2".  If / when I run, I would easily outstride that little bowl on the bottom.

I'm with the people at the top of the thread, it's a novelty.  No inherent improvement over Kinect, for every pro, there's another con.

That's what happens when you try to leap steps and bridge the gap between your new contrived control scheme, and the old software that was designed with and evolved alongside traditional controllers/keyboard & mouse.  Sure you can develop more specifically for it, but hacking together will always feel just like that, something cobbled together.
