Just that quote about melted cheese and sausage and bacon made me lose my concentration.

Alberta has had a distracted driving law in place for about two years now.

I did find it very interesting that among the banned activities behind the wheel, eating is not one of them.

I once drank hot egg drop soup straight from the plastic tupperware while driving across the Tappan Zee bridge.... not my smartest driving move.

Almost every restaurant open in the morning serves a delicious breakfast sandwich.

I have never had a delicious takeout breakfast sandwich.  Even the McDonalds sausage biscuit was a fast food version of something that would be delicious made with better ingredients.

The quality of the ingredients aren't determined by whether it's served on a plate or handed to you in a bag wrapped in waxed paper.  The little independent delis in the Mid-Atlantic region do swift business with high quality take-out breakfast sandwiches.

Scrapple, egg, and cheese on toast for me please.

Breakfast burrito from the guy on the corner.

It's a fake story, but eating while driving should be banned. It's every bit as dangerous as using a cell phone while driving.

Nah. Not as dangerous as texting anyway. You can eat and keep your eyes on the road. If you're texting you're staring down at your phone and your head's in cyberspace.

WA State Patrol will pull you over for eating if they determine it's "distracted driving."

They've actually got distracted driving patrols out here now. I'm guessing for texters and people smoking pot.

Talking on a cell phone without a hands free device while driving is illegal. Holding on to a greasy drippy burger is more distracting than holding a phone.

I'd type a witty reply, but I'm driving and eating my steak-and-egg burrito.  I can only multi-task so much.

Most of the province, like the Martimes and Newfounland (won't mention that dump that is Labrador) is on EI. Most of them are sleeping it off after another kitchen party with some drunk old uncle who can play the fiddle, so no one is eating anything in their cars on the way to work, unless it is the morning the welfare checks come in and it is off to cash it and buy more booze. Awful place to visit, cold a damp, just like a mushroom farm, however the mushroom farm smells better and has better culture.

You could eat finger food while driving possibly, but there are a lot of things you can get in a drive through that would be hard to eat while driving.

People should not be eating melted cheeses and bacon or sausage sandwiches while.driving. If you're driving you may as well be eating a kale and tofu quiche. Save the cheese and bacon type sandwiches for the times that you won't be distracted by road rules and other drivers. That will give you a chance to savor and enjoy every bite.

2014-05-13 11:10:53 PM
Eating tacos behind the wheel should carry a heavier sentence than most.

Having mastered the art of eating a greasy Chorizo Breakfast Burrito without spilling a drop. I can say that it's easier than texting while driving, which I do not do anymore.

Dude, he said "Scrapple" not "tripe."

Scrapple sounds pretty good. Though I had to Google it.

Getting a kick as I was passing a police car yesterday morning while eating a sandwich and wondering if the cop will do anything because they recently announced some new Driving Distracted laws.
The law specifically mentioned applying make up as well, if I'm not mistaken.

Last month I ate a nacho supreme from Taco Bell, drove my 6spd car and non-hands free cell in rush hour traffic. Suck it Alberta.

Only if farting after eating tacos carries the death penalty wherever they occur.

That must have been a long time ago, coz for the past so many years they've been patching the roadway with thick metal plates and hitting one of those at just 30mph would leave that soup all over your ceiling.

Now that we got drinking while driving and texting while driving kinda sorta under control here in America, this will be the new thing to crack down on. And the anti-eating while driving ads with celebs will pop up.

You watch, and I called it!

One time I ate ribs while driving. I do not recommend it. There was barbecue sauce everywhere.

And then there was the time when I ate pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage while driving. I had carry out from IHOP, and couldn't wait until I got home. That as a mistake, too.

They have to ban eating while driving because people don't have 3 arms and we know that any self respecting Bluenoser will not put down his beer except when he needs to get another beer.

I've never heard of that show, but it is clearly satire - although in NS, it wouldn't surprise me that a lot of people would take this seriously.

When I used to have a SUV and could look down at other drivers, I once saw a moron on 287 steering with knee, one hand a drink, other a pizza  and reading a newspaper.

The problem is that its not the distractions that make people bad drivers.

Most people suck at driving, the distractions just make it worse.
