THis.  The supposed "death of the Tea Party" gives me no satisfaction when establishment Republicans had to turn into teabaggers themselves to beat them.

Mr. Osborn, the group said, stood "with the grass-roots uprising before it was cool." But in March, FreedomWorks rescinded its support of Mr. Osborn and backed Mr. Sasse.

Oh FFS.  Now we have to suffer hipster teabaggers?

It's called a tricorne.

Never mind, you've probably never heard of it.

Look, when you only get a 98% score from the NRA, you have to expect you're going to have a problem when a 100% runs against you.

Yep.  There's been a few good articles that the reason that the Establishment beat the Tea Parties so much more fully this time around is that a lot of the candidates decided to just out-derp them in addition to outspending them.

Nothing their talking heads are saying suggests that the Tea Party hasn't won.

And this is how it ends.  Remember 2010?  People were expecting a civil war that would end the party.  But unified stupidity with power is preferable to diversified stupidity with no power.  That's just how our elections work.

They should start franchising the brand.  Since Teapartiers have a mancrush on Putin, I think Russia would be a good market to start:

Good god, after skimming the article, the Tea Partiers sure seem to be their own brand of Hipster Douchebag™.

"Naw man, my friends and I have been more grassroots than you for a long time". "No, I'm not voting for Smith. I liked him before he became too Washington."

Today he let spill he doesn't like Rand Paul.

He's also for a minimum guaranteed income....

So, yes, he's gone full circle in some respects.

But he's still "libertarian".

He doesn't vote though.

"Tea Party Express has spent $7.5 million on operations out of $8 million raised"

"A December 28, 2009 article in Talking Points Memo detailed that OCDB (Tea Party Express) directed almost three-quarters of all its funding to the Republican-affiliated political consulting firm that created the PAC in the first place. According to FEC filings, from July through November 2009, OCDB spent around $1.33 million, and of that sum, $857,122 went to the consulting firm Russo, Marsh, and Rogers.[5][6] OCDB was founded by Sal Russo of the Russo, Marsh, and Rogers.[1]"

Looks like someone knows a sucker when they meet one.

I have vowed that every time Ben Sasse shows up on Fark I will post a reminder that this guy kicked off his campaign by saying we should move the US Capitol to Nebraska, because Nebraskans are better than those east coast elites.
