Oh good.

2014-05-13 11:02:21 AM
Did subby really expect the press to interrupt and answer his rhetorical questions?

That was a former prosecutor making a closing argument. The problem is the case was Benghazi Derp v Sanity.

2014-05-13 11:07:33 AM
I don't think he thinks anybody is listening. In fact, I doubt he's even listening to himself. He asked twice if they knew why requests for increased security were denied. I'm surprised he's pushing for an answer to that one. A few seconds on google gets too many references to list. For example:

http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/10/10/985191/chaffetz-absolut el y-funding-embassy-security/

He's got style and talks a good game.  In this circle jerk, he certainly has the chops to jerk it well and towards the centre.

Never mind that everyone of his questions was answered by the press,  I could answer them myself (as a non-American, non-journalist) plus every single one of those issues was addressed in the Senate Benghazi Committee Report.

2014-05-13 11:20:53 AM
I can see how he would make a good prosecutor. That was well delivered. Bunkum, but well delivered bunkum.

"No one has been arrested, no one has been prosecuted." Yeah, funny how an opportunistic military band in a country torn by civil war is hard to identify, capture, extradite, and try for crimes.

Why was Stevens in Benghazi? He was the Ambassador to Libya, and, if I recall correctly, he chose to stay so that he might continue helping people in that country.

Why were we the last flag flying? Because we hadn't evacuated everyone yet.

Why were requests for security denied? Because Stevens turned down the offer, for one, and because Republican lawmakers refused to fund extra security, for another.

Why were no assets deployed? They were too far, be as incredulous as you like, but it doesn't take a military genius to know that at least dozen armed men against 2 security personnel would not last the three and a half hours it would take for reinforcements to arrive.

Did Obama ask for help? I actually don't know the answer to this one, but seeing as you previously stated that we were the last flag flying, I don't see where help could have come from.

Why did Susan Rice go on the Sunday talk shows? Who gives a good goddamn about who parroted the talking points?

Why did we blame the video? Because everyone was talking about the worldwide riots that were going on at the same time because of the video. But again, who cares why we said that for the first few days?

Hooray, still no new questions, and lots of answers he chooses to ignore.

Dude, this was two years ago.

2014-05-13 11:28:39 AM

James!: What were the questions?  I can't video at work.

1. Can you tell me why Chris Stevens was in Benghazi the night he was killed?   Do you know?
2. Does it bother whether or not you know why Chris Stevens was in Benghazi?
3. Do you know why we were the last flag flying in Benghazi after the British had left? And the Red Cross had been [muffled]?
4. Do you know why requests for additional security were denied?
5. Do you know why an Ambassador asking for more security--days and weeks before he was murdered--and those requests went unheeded?  Do you know the answer to why those requests went unheeded?
6. Do you know why no assets were deployed during the seige--and I've heard the explanation which defies logic, frankly--that we couldn't have gotten there in time, but-but you know, they didn't know when it was gonna end? So how can you possibly cite that as an excuse?
7. Do you know whether the President called any of our allies, and said "Can you help, we have been under attack?" Can you answer that?
8. Do any of you know why Susan Rice was picked? The Secretary of State did not go, she says she doesn't like Sunday talk shows, that's the only media venue she does not like--if that's true. Why was Susan Rice on the five Sunday talk shows?
9. Do you know the origin of this mythology that it was spawned as a spontaneous reaction a video? Do you know where that started?
10. Do you know how we got from no evidence of that, to that being the official position of the Administration?

The questions were rhetorical, and he wasn't expecting a direct answer from anyone right there in the audience. Subby's stirring up the drama.

/boy are my hands tired

This one is tenuous.  Like OBL I bet you the GOP is praying on a daily basis that Obama doesn't get the attackers before November.

Why was Stevens in Benghazi? He was the Ambassador to Libya, and, if I recall correctly, he chose to stay so that he might continue helping people in that country.
Why has Stevens remained silent on this subject then.  Check and bingo.

Why were we the last flag flying? Because we hadn't evacuated everyone yet.
Knowing that they were going to be murdered, why did they chose to stay there?

Why were requests for security denied? Because Stevens turned down the offer, for one, and because Republican lawmakers refused to fund extra security, for another.
Why don't we have unlimited security for every diplomatic mission?

Why were no assets deployed? They were too far, be as incredulous as you like, but it doesn't take a military genius to know that at least dozen armed men against 2 security personnel would not last the three and a half hours it would take for reinforcements to arrive.

Did Obama ask for help? I actually don't know the answer to this one, but seeing as you previously stated that we were the last flag flying, I don't see where help could have come from.
Obama could have asked his Muslim buddies.

Why did Susan Rice go on the Sunday talk shows? Who gives a good goddamn about who parroted the talking points?

Why was she wearing a yellow dress?  The colour of cowards?

Why did we blame the video? Because everyone was talking about the worldwide riots that were going on at the same time because of the video. But again, who cares why we said that for the first few days?
Where is the proof that the videos weren't the motivation for the attackers?

Hooray, still no new questions, and lots of answers he chooses to ignore.

Too bad it's practically impossible to identify them. It would be incredibly cool to see an unscheduled news conference announcing this, just like when Obama announced the death of Bin Laden.

These are the same people who've whitewashed Reagan and Nixon's legacies, and they've tried since to do the same with fellow national disgraces Joseph McCarthey and Warren G. Harding. They've tried to vilify the farking New Deal. These assholes will accept any reality that doesn't hold them accountable for anything.

Heh.

The assclown thinks that the former guy occupying that particular residence, the one that lied to get the nation in a useless war and get thousands of Americans killed along with hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis, violated conventions to authorize war crimes and crimes against humanity and, by all rights, ought to be at The Hague with the rest of his administration is somehow better than Fartbongo McDroney and had shown integrity.

The guy that lied to start a war. That guy.

That would be because everybody with even a modicum of critical thinking skill stopped listening to these idiots for any reason other than cynical entertainment at least seven investigations ago, when they answered those questions for the first, second, or third time.

But whatever. It' s a great conversational litmus to find out when somebody is just too incredibly stupid to bother dealing with on a regular basis.

I confess, I am also interested in knowing why the Ambassador was at a secret CIA base. But I suspect that gets into sources and methods that general civilians (and terrorists) are not supposed to be privy to. But I guess its OK to do that now that Robert Novak, Karl Rove and Scooter Libby made that a thing. Welcome to the "Ed Snowden" club, Mr. Gowdy.

Sure congressman, do you know why those funds for extra security were turned down by the GOP? Oh snap... Why was he there, he's our diplomat to Libya, felt an intense loyalty to the region and genuinely wanted to help after the fall of the regime. Why were we the last flag flying.... seriously? We nearly always are. We have taken on that role. We don't give up, we don't surrender. Maybe we should start? Why has nobody been arrested? Soon as you can identify and find the people in Libya that did this, go for it. Maybe they have been and are being interrogated, but we'd never know because that's top secret bullcrap. Or maybe, because we have pressing matters in all the other clusterfarks we're involved in and don't want to start yet another clusterfark on a manhunt in Libya. Gotdamnit, could you imagine this kind of rhetoric over the Beirut bombing when Reagan was in the whitehouse? So much less class in the political ranks these days. All this manufactured outrage to feed election cycles.
