It's the circle of life.  Some dude makes a thing that people like.  Everybody uses it.  Dude sells it to folks who are gong to turn it into a steaming pile of advertising.  People leave.  Then some other dude makes something similar that people like, and the story begins again.

(Cue epic vaguely African-sounding chant...)

Pinterest, eh? I bet those users will probably soon be pretty tired of seeing ads for Pep Boys, Ram trucks, Skoal chewing tobacco, and upcoming MLB games.
