Mom's cat's a hugger.  But he does not rise up to hug anything like that!

But once you do pick him up he will embrace your neck and bury his head under your chin.  He does that when you're sitting on the couch too.  I think it came from when he was younger.  He was a rescue and I think he was separated from the momma cat and litter and weaned too young.  So for the longest time he'd nuzzle up like that and dry nurse on the collar of your shirt.  He'd also work the claws and scrunch them on the sides of your neck which could get painful after a while.

Tuxedo cat FTW!
Then there was time when my tuxedo Spidey was sitting on my (elderly) mother's knee.  All of a sudden, she craned her neck around to look up at Mom's face, reached up, and patted her very gently on the cheek.  Mom was already having memory issues by this point (many many things never made it into storage in her brain), but to the day she died, she remembered Spidey patting her on the cheek.

I'm so jealous of your life right now.

All my cats (only 3, only 3!) are loves, but nothing approaching that happens.  Best I get in my big 20 pounder lying on my chest massaging my shoulders.  And I'll take that.  :)

That. Is. AWESOME.

Anyway, my cat doesn't stretch out her legs, but she gives awesome hugs.  She kind of stands on one shoulder and rubs her face against the side of my head while purring loud enough to shake the rafters.  Been enjoying that for close to 15 years now.  The remaining days are limited.  I cram in all the hugs I can manage.
