Socceroos is such a stupid name, I'm suprised they don't have mobs of bikies and alkies rioting in the streets.

NEDM: Korea Republic: Enjoy it, Reds!

Please tell me they're saying what I think they're saying.

From Wikipedia:  The team is commonly nicknamed "The Reds" by both fans and the media due to the color of their primary kit.

Aw, got my hopes up there for a second.

For the record, I actually entered this thing.

I don't have access to the ones I entered, but I know my one for Mexico was "Redeem". Portugal got "Remember Tordesillas". The US got "Enforce The Monroe Doctrine". Japan got "Kasato Maru Rides Again" (that was the name of the first boat that Japanese immigrants to Brazil arrived on).

Basically I scrounged up every possible historical political episode that might involve Brazil and used that for as many teams as possible.

Uruguay, this wasn't mine then, but doing it today, I'd put down "Remember Us, Rio?"

This paragraph makes me stabby:

With the Socceroos in the same group as the finalists from 2010, Spain and The Netherlands, plus South American powerhouses Chile, their hop into history may come sooner than hoped.

I think if I solve the Swiss slogan, a worm hole will open and I will be on an island with a bunch of plane crash survivors.

I think we can all agree the best one on the side of the bus is

"Go Chile"

The American slogan sounds like a car commercial.

The Aussie one is worse.

I like 'Go Chile' as well :-)

They could have just done that for all 32 teams and gotten away with it. It's like... if you can't come up with anything actually good, just stick to the basics. Don't embarrass yourself.

On the plus side, the FFA has been wanting to get rid of the "Socceroos" nickname for awhile.  Because it contains the word "soccer".   (palmheader)

Italy: Let's paint the FIFA World Cup dream blue

I suppose I could Google it, but I've never understood why a country whose colors are red/white/green wears blue in athletic competitions.

To reflect the overwhelming amount of time and effort the team puts in to practise proper diving technique.

Australia should have gone with: "Land of mountains, land by the stream".
