(Gawker)   Donald Sterling's interview with Anderson Cooper went about as well as you'd expect, considering his insistence that Magic Johnson should be ashamed of having HIV was only the 3rd or 4th worst thing he said   (gawker.com) divider line 127

From TFA: "Sterling: Well, what kind of a guy goes to every city, has sex with every girl, then he catches HIV?"

I don't know, Don. What kind of guy starts plowing a gold-digging skank less than half his age while he's married, sets her up with a bullshiat job paying a shiatton more than a lot of people who do actual work for him, then is stupid enough to call her on his personal phone?

This guy is trying to claim the high ground, even though right now, he's looking up at a groundhog's dick.

I was listening to some of that interview...okay, I know my Fark Medical License has expired, but Sterling sounded like he's in the early stages of dementia. Still aware and responsive and can make intelligent conversation, but always going back to the same topic with close to the same points every few minutes, like they weren't covered before.

Also, the amount of shielding this guy has in regards to what's happening around him rivals a Star Destroyer's.

Why are we as a society still paying attention to this asshat?

Star Destroyers had shiat shields. Almost any damn ship in the Alpha or Beta quadrants had tougher shields. In X-Wing I could take out multiple Star Destroyers w/ a piddly little A-Wing.

It would not surprise me if they announce that he has dementia sometime in the near future. But that doesn't excuse his past actions or what he said in that interview. He was a dirtbag well before that tape came out. A writer for Yahoo sports just posted a column saying that the NBA somewhat deserves the trouble it will go through in removing him from ownership because they didn't get rid of him soon and he's right. There's also a rumor out there that 8 different law firms in California have rejected him in his efforts to find representation in litigation against the NBA.

The part that got me was his thinking that his players love him. If I was a Clippers player, I'd organize a trip to see him after the season with the rest of the team (I don't think that would be forbidden under the NBA's ban). In that trip, I'd make sure he knew exactly how the players (and maybe Doc too) felt about him and his racism. Let him know the truth personally, without any media around.

My favorite part of the interview was when he was trying to get Anderson Cooper to empathize with his jealousy with this line:

"Did you ever like a girl, were you ever jealous of her a little bit if she was with other guys? It's not that I didn't want her to be photographed."

I wish that Anderson had said something about not liking girls so that we could have had the lulz of Sterling giving us his opinion on that. It would have been comedy gold.

2014-05-13 03:19:23 AM
The interview does mark some improvement for Sterling, who is able to stop himself as he starts to say, "There's no African-American," ending the sentence with, "Never mind. I'm sorry."

No, he is not sorry.

So basically, this interview is the racist version of Jerry Sandusky going against an attorney's better judgement and trying to talk his way out of being confronted with raping little boys last year, and ending up just digging a deeper hole.  Sandusky was not senile, and neither is Donald Sterling.

Saying Donald Sterling is mentally ill, at this point, allows Sterling not to face consequences for his 50 years of deplorable actions (let alone words).

I think Sterling needs to go on Howard Stern. Someone needs to tell him it's the only way out of this mess.

2014-05-13 03:24:17 AM
I think the chemicals from Sterling's bad dye jobs over the years have leached through his skull and eaten away his brain.

My own license is as expired as my GED in Law, but if there is dementia, it must be really early considering how he was able to catch himself before having another "let me tell you something else I know about the Negro" Bundy moment, as the article mentions. His estranged or ex- or something or other wife has mentioned it, but it smells like BS to me, I don't know.

Gawker (not Jezebel) and The Onion's A.V. Club are one of the few places where the comments are actually funny, and not wall-to-wall derp.  The article and the comments on a sarcastic A.V. Club review of some awful Kirk Cameron Jesus movie had me laughing my ass off.

That assumes that the NBA hasn't been trying to get rid of him for decades. Which they have. They just didn't have anything on him that would work until now.

Don't think its demetia. Sterling is trying to butter up the black community by attacking Magic Johnson.

When Magic was in his playing days he was not popular in the black community....he was considered "too white". Had many African Americans tell me this

Yeah i kinda thought the same thing.  The NBA can't allow Magic Johnson to own the team, even part of the team.  Not because he has HIV, because he keeps getting attached to this whole shiat storm.  Which of course means he is going to be the new owner

Well, he was cool with his girlfriend banging black dudes in private. He said the issue was that when she's out in public with black men the assumption is that she would only be with them if she was sexually active with them whereas if she's out with white men the assumption that they are banging isn't really a concern. "Good" delicate white or delicate Latina women do not associate with black men because they aren't interested in sexing them up. If they associate with black men, it's because they want the D and are sluts.

If you think that a woman can hang out with Larry Bird and it doesn't necessarily mean they are anything but friends but if the same woman is hanging out with Magic Johnson he is hitting that you are racist. Sterling didn't get angry over the poses being provocative, he got angry that she looks like a whore when she fraternizes with black men.

Where were his media handlers when this interview was done?  Are they on vacation?

His wife did herself no favors in her interview claiming she 'meant' to divorce him years ago but is just now getting around to it.

Also, I thought I saw an article where the dementia is already being mentioned?  Maybe it was someone speculating but I never got around to clicking on the link I saw.

By you're estimation, Fox News has early stage dementia. That explains so much.

Also, Star Destroyers were the Yugo of the spacing industry.

This.  The guy's public persona is so damn likeable, but he narrowly avoided infecting his wife and unborn child with HIV because he couldn't keep his dick in his pants.  Kind of an asshole.

My favorite part of this was how CNN teased Sterling's apology all weekend. "Sterling apologizes...Is it enough?". While they only showed the least crazy clips from the interview.

He didn't even really apologize. And even if he did, he then said more stupid racist shiat. But those deets were conveniently left out so we could get a weekend full of debate about whether his "apology" was sufficient.

Anyway, if they weren't going to finally kick him out for being a racist, they should kick him out for losing his mind and being senile. No way that dude is mentally competent to run an NBA franchise. He's clearly unable to control his mouth or have any comprehension of the consequences of his words.

/did Magic Johnson really call him and tell him to sit on his "apology"? It doesn't seen like it could be true which means Sterling completely made it up or possibly thinks it happened because he's got dementia.

2014-05-13 08:29:53 AM
As much of a racist piece of shiat that that Sterling guy is, Anderson Cooper was probably the worst thing about the interview.

Every time I see him on TV I want to throw shiat and have to remind myself that no matter how high a picture quality I have, I can't actually reach out and strangle him.

Please, CNN.  Won't one of you do us all a favor and strangle that idiot?

2014-05-13 08:30:13 AM
He's a perfect storm of ignorance and outdated personal beliefs, existing in a time when such ideas are commercial/business suicide to express, could probably survive quite prosperously if he just kept quiet and shook hands and kept up a facade of being a benevolent capitalist, (And he was *this* close to getting an award from the NAACP, so he could clearly do it) with an ego that can't sit down and take it, he's GOT to let SOMEONE know how he really feels....

Or as I call it, being stupid.

So Sterling has a wife. He also has a girlfriend who bangs dudes in private. He himself, has had sex with escorts, according to several sources. And he has the audacity to judge Jordan's sexcapades?? When was Sterling's last HIV test?

And while I'm berating Anderson Cooper, what the fark is up with his name?  He's got 2 last names.  It's like the white people's version of naming their kid Laqushka or something like that.  Hey, my name is (something relatively normal), what's yours?

The NBA would be fine with Magic as an owner, but he has like 1/10th the money necessary to make that happen. If he was ever going to "own" the Clippers, it would be about as much as he "owns" the Dodgers, i.e. ~2%.

Clearly, the solution is for him to gay-marry Michael Sam and switch last names with each other.

Seriously though: what was your actual issue with Cooper's interview? By cable news network standards (yes, I know; low bar) he's a pretty good interviewer.
