M. Night Shyamalan's remake of "The Prisoner"

Let me guess: the prisoner is actually a guard who is only imprisoned by his need to constantly make films with swerve endings, of which only Unbreakable is actually watchable

Watch the original. This makes sense. Too much sense.

I... KIND OF liked the AMC miniseries version of the Prisoner. Ian McKellan was brilliant, as always. But it was ultimately inscrutable and pretty forgettable.

Gotham intrigues me. Mainly in I'm curious as to how they're going to f*ck it up.

2014-05-12 08:38:45 PM
Gracepoint seems like Fox said "How about we get that Doctor Who guy and that chick from Breaking Bad then steal "The Killings" plot and see the money roll in."

2014-05-12 08:59:41 PM
Utopia seems like it's going to be a mixture of Survivor (living outdoors) and Big Brother (cameras catch their every move 24/7)

2014-05-12 09:00:48 PM
Nope. And nope.

2014-05-12 09:06:38 PM
The Gracepoint one looks like a shot-for-shot remake of the original. What's the point?

2014-05-12 09:10:38 PM
While Wayward Pines seems to be a mix of Twin Peaks and Silent Hill

WTF Indeed: Gracepoint seems like Fox said "How about we get that Doctor Who guy

guy who was in the original.

Fixt.

So at the end of The Prisoner we'll sit there for 5 minutes and then say "Well, that was dumb"?

2014-05-12 10:29:22 PM
Tennant's American accent still shaky.

2014-05-12 10:30:35 PM
"Wayward Pines" DOES look like M. Night put "The Prisoner" and "Twin Peaks" in a blender, lol...what a tweeeeeest!

Looks like Smallville. Except Bruce Wayne is going to meet all his adversaries when they were kids or something.

I swear if they try to do a remake of something like WKRP In Cincinatti I will go out in a hail of gunfire and take the network execs with me.

To marvel at how little Tennant's attempt at an American accent has improved since his last attempt.

"WhoeVUR killed Danny, that PURson has nowhere to HEYEd."

OK, I'll give Gracepoint a shot.  It has creative staff from Broadburch, Anna Gunn might be right for the part and looks like they found the right location.  Do we have any idea who's playing the David Bradley part of the newspaper shop owner?

Also, they just announced today that Tennant and Olivia Colman are returning for season 2 of Broadchurch.

Just have Iron Maiden re-record it so it sounds more up to date and we wont need a remake.

"Wayward Pines"? What, is this some sort of reform school for delinquent Christmas trees?

Since M. Night Crappomatic is involved, everyone should give it a miss.

I lasted through a couple seasons of House because I love Hugh Laurie but it got old. Same with L&O:CI. I did like Mind Games but that was because I'll watch anything with Steve Zahn in it.

Wayward Pines = The Prisoner?

I didn't see the normal fine print other saying its a remake of the Prisoner. It's from a book called "The Pines".

It might have similarities to the Prisoner, but to me it doesn't seem like a remake.

Anyone remember "Nowhere Man"?

It's probably gonna blow, but it had the most interesting trailer of the lot. I'm a sucker for Twin Peaks type stuff, so I'll give it a shot.

What the flying fark is up with all these networks thinking there needs to be "Americanized" versions of British shows!? They butchered Red Dwarf, made one of Being Human... And that's just the ones I can recall lately! There's a whole bloody list on Wikipedia showing you just how many BBC shows they've tried to "adapt" for the US market!

I mean I know they see dollar signs pop up in front of their eyes, but for the love of god just license the right to air the damn thing!

I enjoyed Broadchurch. Curious though, about how they can actually get a second season for it. Season 1 wrapped up quite nicely.

Steve Zahn, Peter Dinklage, and Summer Glau all in the same movie?  How have I never heard of this before?  That one is certainly going on the 'must watch' list.

Fark you, Fox. Those people seem to be about as ordinary as a city of models who are really, really good looking.

NO!! Save yourself.
Look, it was even filmed in my city. I love stupid movies, but this was just.......it was awful.
I've sat through every Steve Zahn movie there is. I love that guy. Even that horrible nature movie he did, but this movie just blows.
Most people won't tell you that for fear of losing nerd cred because "OMG! Summer Glau and Larping!" but I'm telling you, man, it's bad.
Really bad.

It sucks.  Sat on a shelf for like 2 years as producers reedited it into a mess.

So is the twist in the Prisoner that he's not a number, he's a free man and his blood is his own now?

Son of Thunder: To marvel at how little Tennant's attempt at an American accent has improved since his last attempt.

This must be the season for Scottish actors from  Doctor Whoto land series in the U.S. Let's hope ABC doesn't attempt to tarnish the perfection that is Karen Gillan by asking her to do an American accent.

For a second I thought you were talking about the impending adaptation of the Channel 4 series, which is one of the most brutal shows I've watched in a good long time.  Then I checked and saw what you were talking about.  Yeah, that'll be off the air in a season.

The US adaptation is going to be airing on HBO, by the way.  I'm sure it'll be just as brutal as the UK version.  I'll give it a watch.

Because not everyone saw the original.  They've also said that there's no guarantee the culprit will be the same, so there's that.

Nick Nolte.  He's been announced as in the cast, though not which role.  However, the trailer makes it clear which role he's playing if you remember the original series.
