Global warming caused the earth to expand which made a bigger target.  The earth would have been slim enough to avoid the asteriod 10 years ago but it's too late now.  We're all gonna die!

As the name suggests, a firenado is what can happen when a tornado-like weather phenomenon meets a ground fire. The result: roaring spouts of flame shooting 100ft into the sky.

Except that isn't what happens. There isn't any "tornado-like weather phenomenon" involved. It's strictly a fire phenomenon. But that wouldn't sell newspapers.

Even when it doesn't really warm, global warming still wreaks havoc

A teacher of mine in high school told of living through the Great Kanto Earthquake Disaster in 1923. He was 8 years old and ran for his life with everyone else, and the fires were so great that it made big swirls of fire like that that killed plenty, including a friend he was with.  Vast majority of victims in that disaster were by fire (earthquake hit at noon, lots of people cooking).

But yeah.  Really big fires will make "firenadoes" like that. Firestorms.

fusillade762: What about floodquakes?

I suppose TECHNICALLY an earthquake plus tsunami (pretty common) qualifies?  Even better (for Michael Bay) some of the debris in the 3/11 tsunami was on fire.  Three-way, baby!

As for climate change supposedly the chance for fires (wildfires) goes up due to droughts and more heat in part of the US, so if there's gonna be really big fires, there will be firestorms. But it's not like it's a NEW thing.

To be fair, it's difficult to get an idea of temperature change from just somewhat subjective feelings at your singular geographical location, not to mention the fallibility of memory.

Probably better to use some sort of instrument and numerical record.

Good thing we use actual instruments to measure temperature, rather than feelings and gut intuition.  I felt fairly cool this morning, even though we're already at the average high temperature and are forecasted to go ten degrees above it.

Be sure that what you're relating is truths in the first place. When we had a thread about this, it turned out what was probably said was "as little as". We can pull up transcripts, if you want to take it further.

I felt dumber after watching the video in the article.

If the thing lasted several minutes, could they at least show me a clip longer than 0.5 seconds before it changes to another one at a different angle?

Laughed at the reference to The Ten Commandments, then cried when I saw the pundits start spinning.

Why don't you simply link to a prediction made by a warming alarmist model that actually came true? Then we don't have to bother with extra-fine parsing of all the failed predictions.

Fair enough. I happen to have something open in another tab:

img.fark.net

From Santer et al. 2013. The anthropogenic 'fingerprint' is there in terms of thermal structure, even with differences due to what actually occurred in terms of volcanic activity and solar irradiance.

That aside, this does not somehow render your previous link any better. I suggest keeping your critical thinking cap on when dealing with blog posts (if not all sources) so there's less chance of you taking poor information at face value in the future. Also be aware that when dealing with scientific topics, the details matter - "extra-fine parsing" is the norm, not the exception.
