Now, see, I would've been far more impressed if they'd tried to go past the opening notes.

From Wiki;

In response to the song's popularity in Italy, Jack White said:
I am honored that the Italians have adopted this song as their own... Nothing is more beautiful than when people embrace a melody and allow it to enter the pantheon of folk music. As a songwriter it is something impossible to plan. Especially in modern times. I love that most people who are chanting it have no idea where it came from. That's folk music.

It's insane. When i was in Pamplona all of the drunk kids would start chanting that opening rift over and over again down the street. The more people heard it, the more would join in. It seems really contagious in europe, just their herpes.

How can someone like the White Stripes, but not like the drumming? That's like 1/3 of what's going on there. I'm no drummer or musician, and I'll tell you that I enjoy the drumming. People can pick on her talent all they want, but the chick has been on top of the charts with whatever drumming talent she possesses, and their music will be played for decades (unlike many who hit the top of the charts).

Anyone who can dismiss breasts isn't worthy to offer an opinion on anything ever again.

The Oak Ridge Boys did the definitive cover of this song.

/No, really it's actually quite good. Their geriatric audience being completely mystified is a big bonus.
