Heaven help the pawn shop or the scrap dealer who takes that set of spoons. I'm sure that they are engraved with Garfield's name and POTUS.

The tomb is in Lakeview Cemetery and is actually a pretty spectacular building.  Looks like a mini-cathedral.

The Garfield family home in Mentor is a national historic site.  Garfield was actually quite popular and well-liked in his time and could have been one of the greats had he not been gunned down so early in his presidency.

/ok, back to your zany comic-strip antics

He was one of a long line of Ohio presidents, elected by the combined work of the Ohio and Pennsylvania machines.  The difference between Garfield and the other Ohio presidents was that he was actually -by all accounts- an honest man.  It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he'd served out a term or two.

Garfield was also able write with both hands at the same time. And in two different languages. Not that that's relevant to the article, but my daughter did a report on him a few months back and that stuck iny head...

Unless they have a buyer something that hot is going to be hard to pawn off anywhere near this place.

About two different subjects. It was as if his right hemisphere and his left hemisphere were two separate independent brains. Very cool.

Police reports say cigarette butts, a T-shirt and a whiskey bottle were recovered.

A fella could have a pretty good time with those... somewhere, I guess.
