Usually you can sneak a burger off the line for yourself, depending on which Assistant Manager is on duty.  Keith's a cool guy but Sarah's a total biatch.

There's actually multiple levels of meaning here. "Stay hungry" is, in one way, merely a dog whistle for "stay poor enough to get food checks so that you can remain eligible for Welfare your entire life." This increases the entitlement class, which in turn increases the Democratic base. It is also, as kbronsito points out, a reference to her plan for socializing school lunches and turning America into a meatless society. In addition, by telling our next generation to "stay hungry," what she is in effect doing is setting the groundwork for the inevitable failure of the Obama economy and the Obama jobs program and the Obama domestic policy. She's implying that the students are making the choice to stay hungry, that they are the ones deciding their fate rather than the victims of a president who crippled the nation. It's brainwashing of the sort that goes on at government internment centers, like Gitmo, which brings us to the next level of meaning here. "Stay hungry" is actually a veiled threat, an implication of what might happen if the students decide to veer from their assigned paths. "You don't want to go to Gitmo and stay hungry, do you?" she's asking, and anybody with half a brain knows the answer to that.

Why do I get the feeling that Rush Limbaugh's rant on this - because of course he'll have to rant on this - will read very much like Pocket Ninja's post?  With random pregnant pauses and emphasis added, of course.

That's one of my favorite Rush tricks.  "Do you mean to tell me....that....you believe...2 PLUS 2 is....4?   Really?   This is what they want you to believe, people."

The Obamas are corporatists.  I like a lot of the policies (and they are 1000x better than Rmoney would have been), but they love dem corporations.  They probably don't actively see it this way, but the crippling debt that people are going into so they can go to college makes them nice little corporate bots.  I'm sure the Obama's don't question the basic tenets of corporate culture.

Actually, I love this meme so much.  The person who created it is under the impression that they have lobsters as an entree at the Waldorf and this is what "rich" people eat, or that a $44 bottle of champagne at a luxury hotel is expensive.

I agree. As an ED nurse who recently saw a thirty-five kilo four year old come into our ED alongside her family members, whom range in size from 100 to an astonishing and absolutely no joke 235 kilograms, I have to say I applauded their decision to really show that Michelle Obama what was what. Now, it's true that you and I have to pay for their bad decisions constantly from either the little one being on Medicaid to the older ones never paying their bills, but cognitive dissonance doesn't bother me at all, so I just focus on sticking one to Moochelle and Fartbongo and ignore the rest of it.

Are you feeling the fire?
Are you ready to explode?
Are your dreams and desires
Riding down an open road?

I'm like a runaway
A heart without a home
Others can laugh and play
I'll fight for every inch I take, I'm desperate to the bone

Stay hungry feel the fire
Stay hungry don't explode
Stay hungry with desire
Stay hungry you're alone

Be the hunter and the hunted
Keep your target in your sight
Don't be sidetracked or shunted
Let pretenders feel your bite

And if you start to slide
Never show you're weak
Don't feel you've got to hide
Remember what you're fighting for, remember what you seek

Stay hungry feel the fire
Stay hungry don't explode
Stay hungry with desire
Stay hungry you're alone, alright

If your fire is faded
And you can't feel it no more
If you're tired and overrated
Let me show you to the door

Expect no sympathy
There's none to be had
Open your eyes and see
There's no room for the wannabes, the has-beens or the bad

Stay hungry feel the fire
Stay hungry don't explode
Stay hungry with desire
Stay hungry you're alone
Stay hungry feel the fire
Stay hungry don't explode
Stay hungry with desire
Stay hungry you're alone

If you somehow ended up with a six-figure college tuition loan, you're supposed to have poor job prospects.

A six-figure college loan is the modern equivalent of an 'F' in your core competency math class; if you get something like that, there's probably a good chance you will underwhelm people in an interview.

Lol wut? I got a friend who's in graduate school about to finish his masters, to get financial assistance he had to work for the university teaching a freshman level course and had to sign an agreement that he wouldn't have outside employment during the semester. Turns out, teaching two classes a week, which if you throw in lesson planning and office hours works out to about 20hrs/week, at $9/hr doesn't really pay for the rest of his tuition or his bills at home. That leaves student loans. Any idea how much grad school costs? I'm guessing you don't, but as it turns out, I don't really know either, except that I do know it easily runs into the six figures.

Maybe he should have just cashed out some of his stock options, right?

/Luckily his former boss at a local pizza joint let him pick up shifts on the weekends to help make ends meet.
//And the boss was nice enough to lie to the university when they found out and called the restaurant seeing if he was working there

Republicans elect representatives that raise the loan interest rate on students but not banks, and greedy office managers require college graduation for consideration into their company, but when the First Lady tells students to stay hungry and keep fighting for that career it's major news that the derpers can freak out about.

Then you are confusing college with graduate school.  A college degree is customarily 4 years long, with an average in-state tuition rate on the order of $8000/year.  It does not add up to six figures, and even if it did, you're not supposed to put the entire farking thing on credit.

Any idea how much grad school costs? I'm guessing you don't, but as it turns out, I don't really know either, except that I do know it easily runs into the six figures.

No, it does not.  A master's degree is often just a couple years.  Graduate tuition is often more expensive than undergraduate tuition, but it is still comparable; at my university, in-state graduate tuition is 11K/year versus in-state undergraduate tuition of 8K/year.

Out-of-state tuition is almost 20K/year, which is more or less consistent with national trends of charging roughly double to non-residents---but even so, a master's degree won't run you six figures because master's programs are short. Our master's programs are the customary 2 years, except for accelerated 4+1 students who pay only one extra year of graduate school.

PhD programs tend to be longer (4+ years), but PhD students are customarily supported with a tuition waiver.  In fact, a lot of master's students are also supported with a tuition waiver.  Since the whole point of a master's degree is to improve your earnings potential, it wouldn't make sense to indebt yourself far beyond the financial advantage you get from the degree.
