Those rotten bastard cops.

You know who ELSE had summer education programs for children?

Oh ...

The Mayor thanked the child for the $825 donation, later the Police Chief declared the $400 would be put to good use.

Ignore these Farkers.
They're just prejudiced against police because they've met some.

TheOther: TomServo24: So his money didn't come from his birthday, it came from shaking down local businesses?

He's running a string of 5-y/o ho's and has to give the cops a cut.

My initial reaction too - also who the fark gets $1650 for birthday money when they're 6 years old?

I know there's inflation and shiat, but I was lucky to get $5 each from both sets of grandparents.

I'm guessing this kid isn't really wanting for much.

Luxury. We used to have to pay our parents for the privilege of having a birthday... and there would be interest already compounded on next year's amount. If we were lucky.

I see what you did there.

You added a dollar sign instead of an 's', because they both look alike, to indicate financial motivation.

I thought the story was gonna be about a kid coming back from a bake sale or from selling his game consoles and the cops thought that was a suspicious amount of money for him to be carrying so they took it.

Peter von Nostrand: I'm sure they'll feel awful for tasing him because he cut in the lunch line once they realize who he is

Or when they show up at the wrong house on an anonymous drug tip and shoot his dog.

Dumbass kid. I had delusions about "Officer Friendly" as a child also. He is going to regret this.

SpectroBoy: browntimmy: hasty ambush: Giving money to government, why do Fark ProgressivesTM have a problem with this?

I know it's futile, but I'll ask again anyway. Do you keep typing "Fark ProgressivesTM"because you saw someone type Fark IndependentsTMand don't get the joke? What is supposed to be the difference between a Fark ProgressiveTM and a regular progressive?

I was curious about that to.

I am more curious why we aren't using alt-0153™. That should keep the formatting even when quoted.

Mose: SirEattonHogg: Did anyone bother to read the part where that the donation is going to some youth summer program?

That the kid (and more importantly the local business donors who gave to the kid first) didn't give money to the cops so that the cops could buy a brand new assault rifle or to defray the cost of new riot helmets?

It's practically like raising funds for any other charity or rather a govt organization that is connected with a charity - like the Marines and Toys for Tots.

But far be it for me to get into the usual "Fark the cops" and "AmeriKKKa Police State" discussion.  Please continue.

Remember where you are dude.  I'm surprised your post was totally ignored and that no one dragged out one of the tired old Welcome to Fark gifs.

No kidding, this site changes you.  I clicked thinking this was going to be another story of cops confiscating the kid's money during a search of his parents' car.  And he had the money saved up to cover his cancer treatment copay.  Thanks Fark.

You can now place bets on how long it will take this to fund the very same taser that will be used on him for resisting arrest as a result of running a lemonade stand outside mom and dads home.
