(BBC-US)   We go again, one last time. Man City need a point. Liverpool need a miracle. Everybody else is playing for pride. Oh, and $2M per league position gained. THIS is your final Premier League thread of the season   (bbc.com) divider line 375

I'm no fan of Man City, but the Scousers will be insufferable if they pull this one off.

Already resigning myself to a Citeh victory, so I'm hoping Swansea can steal a win at Sunderland for that sweet reward money for being in a higher position.

Matters of interest to me today:

1. Can Utd avoid the purgatory of Europa League summer qualifying?
2. Will Utd give the young kids another run out?

...um, that's about it.

I hope Liverpool somehow pull it off because their play deserves it more than the checkbook soccer of City, but let's be honest, neither outcome is great for a Man Utd fan.

Dream Ending: Liverpool wins the league after another 4-3 with Newcastle, with Suarez scoring all four goals to take the all time PL record, and Andy Carroll, Joe Cole, and Stewart Downing all score for a 3-2 over City.

Reality: City walk all over West Ham, who look like they couldn't be arsed to play, while Liverpool squeak out a 4-4 draw.

Still, this has been a very promising season for my Reds. My only fear is that we go into next season too reliant on Suarez and Sturridge. They won't go 30-20 twice in a row.

Ehh, toss-up. He's Raheem but slower and better with the ball at his feet. We've had some success with raw, British talent in the recent past, so maybe he works out.

You forget our team has lifelong loyal supporters across the globe but the other teams fans are all plastics, our player is misunderstood and the victim of a media witch hunt while rival teams player is much worse but no one mentions it, our player was just intentionally clumsy while the other teams player was deliberately violent and was out to injure our player, our fans are passionate and only react to cruel taunts while the other teams fans are mindless thugs who glory in our fans misfortune, our team is the subject to a constant stream of negative media attention while other team gets a free pass.

I think that just about covers it.

Norfolking Chance: I think that just about covers it.

Our team earned success the hard way, developing talent and scouting players, while the other teams bought their way to success with the open checkbooks and bottomless pockets of their rich owners.

Goals of the Season: Wilshere and Kasami.

Team of the Season: Dunno. Haven't watched much. Bored by United, more bored by the rest of 'em.

Arsenal has fourth locked up; the only thing Arsenal are fighting for is a clean sheet so that Szczesny gets the Golden Glove. Otherwise, Norwich has better than even odds to take the game today. Arsenal will likely be sitting starters to be fresh for the FA Cup.

I would say Poyet or Pullis with a mention of Bruce but people prefer getting good players playing well rather than turning around bad teams.

The champions line up as follows: De Gea; Smalling, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra; Januzaj, Fletcher, Kagawa, Welbeck; Mata; van Persie

Subs: Amos, Carrick, Cleverley, Lawrence, Young, Valencia, Hernandez

Thought Michael Keane might be involved. U21 final on Wednesday so no James Wilson.

Three youth products start and three on bench...3,700 consecutive first team games since October 1937 with youth player in squad!

i don't get the Poyet thing, I have to say. 25 games of nothingness followed by 4 or 5 admittedly incredible results doesn't make him manager of the year. Expensively assembled squad, too.

I'd say Wilshere's is the best team goal, Kasami's is the best individual goal.

LOL

Whoa. Never saw that before. Damn, it's hypnotic.

Line ups are out at BBC Sport for those interested.

I'm not feeling very motivated to watch Utd, other than to see several players definitely or probably play their last game for Utd.

Horrendous Space Kablooie: I can't stand Suarez. I can't forgive him for what he did in the 2010 world cup.

You mean the thing that every other footballer asked said they would also do?  The thing he was rightfully punished for according to the rules of the game?

If you want to be mad at somebody, be mad that the guy who took the pen shanked the crap out of it.

Today is such a bitter-sweet day.  This summer isn't going to be too bad with that little tournament being played in Brazil.

My prediction is West Ham play out of their minds to draw with City making the Palace game all the more terrible and releasing Gerrard from his responsibility with regards to his slip against Chelsea.

NBC is having some pub parties across the country today. I just saw a pic on twitter of one of the napkins. It said "FYI for next season, it's pronounced 'Lester.'"

Hey, jumping into this thread to give a heads-up: at the beginning of the season, a lot of people said they wanted to play the Predictor league and said they'd be up for pitching in $5 to get a prize for the person who won the league (which is currently looking like nathanjr, presuming  wynswrld doesn't come up with the amazing last-minute upset across the board)

Some of the people who said they were in have sent me their $5, but some of you who said you'd be interested haven't yet.

If you're still in, I agreed to be the person to hold the money and distribute the prize to the winner. Those of you who want to still pitch in, my paypal is unfreakable at gmail dot com.

Final predictions are in, the only thing left is which games to watch  (how much can my bandwidth handle...)

2014-05-11 09:53:26 AM
Morning all!  Last year I watched the final matches in a hotel room in Vancouver while trying to recover from a cold.  Today I'm in my apartment trying to overcome a hangover before taking a final and working on a project.  A bit different I'd say.  Trying to figure out which game to watch, but I'll probably switch between games depending on how exciting they are.

I paid in already to the FFPL pool, so I'm covered.

My only concern today is holding off a late charge from  Stimied in a Rut to hold on to fifth place. It should also be noted that the fourth place slot has been pipped by Mr_H, a Tottenham supporter.

Man City 2, West Ham 2
Arsenal 2, Norwich 1
Man U 2, Southampton 1
Sunderland 3, Swansea 1
Tottenham 2, Aston Villa 2

I think this has to do more with English football tribalism and how supporters of other teams there interact with each other over there than anything I've ever observed here in the US.

Last week was the only reason I have a shot and while I'd be fine with sixth, a top 5 finish would be sweet.  My goal is to always been in the top ten, the higher the better.

Speaking of which, does anyone know if there is a way to see how you did in past seasons?
