Eleventy-teen billion.

I looked at it before guessing.   It's a classic, obvious Rockwell (not some early effort, or experimental painting).  It's that mom-and-apple-pie Americana that was Rockwell's forte.  It's going to sell for a lot.

The article states that Rockewell gave him the painting.  I didn't see a mention of Principal Williams donating it to the school.  Did I miss it or is your suggestion a darned good one?

I think we can safely assume that the Daily Mail included all the relevant facts and information.

We had this one on the wall when I was growing up.  Always confused me because it looked like a robot was losing its head.

It's too bad Rockwell didn't collaborate with other painters. Jackson Pollock could have put some interesting finishing touches on his works.

Me, too, I thought it would be in the high threes or fours. Some of his work is incredible, and it's silly that the art world doesn't want to acknowledge that because he was also a commercial artist.

Your mention of the silliness of the art world reminded me of the documentary Who the #$&% Is Jackson Pollock? which is fantastic:

IIRC, it can be streamed on Netflix.

Recently read a biography about Rockwell- was a lot more interesting than I thought it'd be.

I never understood it either. Meanwhile people nut-hug Jackson Pollack, whose "art" looks like liquid shiat thrown through a window screen to me.

In order to help understand Pollack, I strongly recommend Rockwell's "The Connoisseur".
