(News9 Oklahoma)   Good idea: Putting boxes in police stations to drop off unused prescription medicine. Bad idea: Trying to steal that medicine from the box on camera. Bonus: Suspect's defense   (news9.com) divider line 16

FTA -- "At some point she's reading the box and she told our officers after she was under arrest that it doesn't say anywhere in the fine print that you can't take drugs out of the box."

Another case vindicating my long held belief that criminals are basically stupid.

I think this just boils down to a cultural misunderstanding. The Tweekers obviously thought the drug box functions the same way those leave a penny/take a penny trays do on convenience store counters.

Somacandra: I was trying to drop off old codeine/tylenol tablets and the pharmacies here won't take them the way they'll take other expired meds. Specifically they have to audit them and a whole bunch of extra crap. They told me to dissolve the mixture in water and then pour the mixture onto cat litter and then toss it out. I ain't got time for that.

Trade them for weed.

basemetal: I was hoping these chucklef*cks would make the main page.  Nice, submitter.

subs here.  I know how the fark community loves themselves some dumbass criminals.  These boxes have been in place in Oklahoma for years in an attempt to curb the misuse of Rx meds.

Cops get pissed when this happens because they take the meds for personal use. I know this to be true.

I really wish I would've been on duty when these punk druggies tried this. Pepper spray, followed by a nice tasing. Restraint is the key...leave no bruises or broken bones, but teach them a lesson that you don't FARK with us. That's why I would've zip-tied them like a hog, and then threw them in the de-lousing cell and hosed em off with a fire hose. All legal actions according to our police handbook. I'm betting they won't try to pull this stunt ever again.

Well, to be fair there was no sign saying you should not take them and most people in today's economic crisis are accustomed to accepting donated items.
