(Billboard)   Simon Cowell wants to make a movie as successful as Frozen. But given the success of recent Fox animated movies, it will most likely wind up another Road to El Dorado   (billboard.com) divider line 34

[Everyone in Hollywood ever] wants to make a movie as successful as Frozen.

Fox Animation Studios made some decent animated films. Even if they didn't make mouse dollars, I still enjoyed both Anastasia and Titan AE

Deep down inside I know the reasons why, but I still find it very hard to accept that someone who produces so much sub-par garbage can be so wildly successful and obscenely wealthy.

Is there one word that covers jealousy, contempt, and depression?

/oh well, he's got man-breasts, so there's that

Hey, Subby, shut up.  I liked Road to El Dorado.

I never did understand why it bombed.  It was a damn good movie, good humor for the adults, cute animals for the kids, and at least in the theater I worked in at the time it was quite a hit in our area.  It surprised me to find out that it was actually a dud, box office wise.

Sucks, because I would have liked to see a series of movies made out of it.

"These musical animations are doing great box office," says Cowell. "From a record label standpoint, we're always looking for different ways to sell music and do it in a cool way. This is something we dreamt of doing."

Well, no, The Lego Movie was really nothing about the music. It was about a solid script and cool lego animation.

Know why Frozen sold a boatload of stuff? Because it's not some farted out bit of Syco junk. It's a movie that clearly had a huge amount of hard work and love applied to it at every single level from storytelling to songwriting to character design and performance.

Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.

But he grew old-
This knight so bold-
And o'er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.

And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow-
"Shadow," said he,
"Where can it be-
This land of Eldorado?"

"Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied-
"If you seek for Eldorado!

I liked Road to El Dorado, too. We still add "And then we buy Spain" to the end of lists.

only a farking idiot could be handed someone as insanely talented as Rubin Studdard, and completely drive him into forgotten obscurity after saddling him with an album or two of absolute worthless crap songs... He could have easily been the next marvin gaye, but Simon can't handle real talent, only brainless fluff..

"Road To El Dorado" was Dreamworks, Subby  Went 2 the junket, it was okay-as a fan of Bing & Bob it didn't connect.

Ahahahah I've seen that movie I don't know how many times cause my grandma farking loved John Wayne. She met him in California when she was 8 months pregnant with my dad. Lol that was in 1958.

I think the reason so many people want to do animated films is because this way, they can
fulfill their urge to direct without having to put up with temperamental actors.  If a "toon" acts up,
tear it off the drawing board.  However, since Fox is the studio behind it, it's practically a
guaranteed flop.  (Even if it was Disney, it would likely croak.  Who would back a movie with
an asshat like Simon Cowell associated with it?)

It is the favorite cartoon of both of my daughters, who are 21 and 13, so I've seen it too many times to count.
It's not annoying. That says a lot, as parents will understand.

I remember many years back, Simon Cowell doing a radio interview in San Diego, can't remember which station. For fun, they had a few people calling in to sing for him to hear and judge. One woman who called in had an absolutely incredible voice, and he basically took a giant shiat on her, telling her that she had a voice for singing in a bar full of drunks. The guy's really clueless on anything other than bland pop.

I just watched Frozen for the first time last night, and I'm really not sold. It would have been much improved without the Jar Jar character, and the pacing of the story and some of the plot twists seemed really forced. As it is, I don't think it's up to the standards of some of the older stuff. There were also points where the animation was pretty bad, enough to jar me.

Anyway, decent, but I don't think it's as good as the buzz would imply.

The fact that Hollywood thinks that Despicable Me 2 is somehow a music inspired film is amusing. Its about as music driven as Top Gun.

"GONNA HAVE A MONTAGE..."
