This happened in Bridgeport. Not surprising...it's a wretched hive of scum & villainy.

/It's worse than Detroit.

If you are going to leave something outside that is basically made of gold and can be easily carried off, don't expect it to stick around for long. Go get some wood and make a ramp that nobody is going to want to take.

Sadly, this is the third time in less than a year I've read about this same kind of theft.

Methheads will steal anything they think they can carry with them, whether it is nailed down or not, if it will get them the cash to get more meth (here in Battle Creek last year, they were stealing manhole covers, before the police reminded the scrap metal dealers that those manhole covers were city property, and that they *would* be checking in on them to make sure that no manhole covers were just laying around in their inventory).

Wood is expensive too. And y'know, Sparky might have a home improvement project that he can cut costs on.

Simple, it would have been found up the street, the kids mom would yell at them and call their parents, the BMX kids would then be forced to do the lady's yard work all summer.

/Wait you mean it's not the 1970s anymore and this would never happen.

Sorry for the kid, but just noticed his wheelchair weighs 450 lbs without him in it?... my grandfather's electric wheelchair didn't weigh that much with him in it.

/that thing must roll downhill -fast-

I'm just guessing here, but due to the kids particular disability the wheel chair probably is one of those fully equipped for a quadriplegic, maybe even including some life support monitors. The picture of the chair makes it look like the chair was stripped down for transport.

Well he wouldn't need the ramp if he would just stop being crippled.

Maybe he just needs to stop thinking of himself as handicapped, but rather as handicapable.

What ever happened to the "lay in wait and beat the thief senseless with a baseball bat" strategy?

This is not the America I grew up in.

The America you grew up in was racist.
