A lot of conservatives have lost all touch with reality.  Extreme paranoia and delusions.  Poor fools probably don't get any good sleep at night.

Yes, they did.

But you only care about murdered people when the president has an "R" after his name.

red5ish: Surprisingly stupid, even for Fox.

That's some tough competition.

They had the one guy who thought Bin Laden was killed after Benghazi only to be corrected by Dana Perino of all people. It's pretty hard to compete with stupidity of that magnitude.

2014-05-10 01:20:25 AM
"I think part of the problem here is that we have a dead American ambassador. We have no one in custody. Not to bring it back to Benghazi," she said, proceeding to insinuate that the girls were kidnapped because "Benghazi" made the U.S. look weak.

Yeah, we need a leader that makes th is country look strong. We need the guy in power who took care of Osama Bin Laden. Too bad HE couldn't run for a third...

Wait, what's that?
WHO got him?
Oh, I see...
Then Bush must have...
No?
Well, what about..
Not that, either, huh?

OK, I'm out of here. You people saw nothing. I was never here.

Off topic, but why did we not care when they killed 60 boys at a school and told the girls to go home and get married?  What changed between February and now, or is it just that imprisonment is worse than death?

Iczer: So, wait... By not "officially" labeling Boko a foreign terrorist organization, they somehow grew testicles and started kidnapping people because they're currently not "terrorists"...?

I think I feel my brain leaking out of my nose, although that could just be part of the cold I've got...

It's just like the death penalty.  Zero tolerance=zero crime

I don't know that the leader made a video with him and his big sh*t-eating grin telling us how he was selling his captives by the ounce and disseminated it to the Western media.

And "we" cared. Some of us have been after these freaks for decades. Just because some people think Boko Haram is a new thing and suddenly worthy of disdain doesn't mean others haven't been aware of them for quite some time. It's not my fault that Americans have vanishingly short attention spans.

Is there a point when we weren't pretty much in favor of dropping missiles on these assholes at every opportunity?  They've been around since like the '80s in one form or another and we've pretty much always avoided it just on grounds that we can't  find a legal reason to interfere unilaterally.

It's not like "Muslim radical group" had a positive connotation right up until last week or anything, or like we used to all think Africa was a magical land of peace and plenty and reasonable neighbors.

Starting with Fox News.

2014-05-10 08:26:42 AM
I get the idea that identifying them as terrorists might improve their profile with other extremist groups and concerns of overreach by Nigerian police, but it's really hard for someone to claim Boko Haram was a terrorist group well before this incident (or if they weren't, then I highly doubt they'd be considered terrorists for the kidnappings if the level of distinction you think has to be reached for such a decision.) They set off a car bomb outside the UN building in Abuja killing 21 people. They've repeatedly attacked schools and have kidnapped Western tourists. Hell, the article tries to claim Hillary would have to be psychic to anticipate that Boko Haram might attempt to kidnap female students, but the group's name is "Western Education is Sinful" and their modus operandi has been suicide bombings and kidnappings at Western facilities, churches, and places of education.

I agree this is functionally not a big issue since Kerry did designate them a terrorist organization on taking office, but the fact remains that the State Department fought to keep Boko Haram off terrorist watch lists and that's not a good position to be in when they do something that stokes international outrage.  Just shows my biggest concern about Hillary: she is too risk-averse. There isn't a single situation I can think of in her legislative and diplomatic career where she actually attempted to push for a significant policy change rather than just maintaining a holding pattern.

I bet Fox News really, really, really wants Clinton to win. After eight years of Obama, they're not going to know how to respond any other way but in opposition. Think about how desperate they got for Haterade during the Bush years; they were picking on college professors and obscure backbenchers. They just won't have an identity anymore.

How Fox News is still allowed to broadcast is beyond me. Owned by foreigners, one linked to funding terrorism the other called before Britain's Parliament for illegal spying on peoples phones. They constantly broadcast outright lies and distortions of the truth. Recently with the Bundy stand off they were practically yelling fire in a crowded theater and encouraging insurrection. They either need new owners an manamement or they need to lose their broadcasting priveleges. I'd apply that to any news org who can't be bothered with facts.

I'm pretty sure that everyone is a terrorist should always add the phrase is a terrorist after naming any person is a terrorist or group of people are terrorists in every sentence they are a terrorist utter. Otherwise, the terrorists are terrorists have won.

We didn't put them on the terrorist list at the request of the Nigerian government. And if the government of the place they're operating in doesn't think they're terrorists, who are we to say different?

Pretty sure any rebellion anywhere consists of people who the government feels are terrorists, and the government.  Doesn't mean they all actually ARE terrorists.

Plus, I can't trust that Nigerian government.  That prince of theirs is several years past due sending me that inheritance he promised me.

I love it when simple minded folks post links that debunk their point because the source tries to spin a lie into the truth.

Clinton said it. Stating later after he finds out someone recorded him that he mispoke doesn't act as a strong rebuttal. The folks who were directly involved said it happened while guys like Sandy Berger, who I shouldn't have to remind you was busted destroying documents at the national archives, denies it.

If you want to believe they didn't.  That's your right as an idiotic American.  Kerry will back you on that. However, us folks who are capable of reading and that are far less gullible will believe otherwise.

I've been against Boko Haram for years and criticized Obama's refusal to call them terrorists. When these girls were kidnapped last month, I and other right wing bloggers were on it and demanding something be done to stop Boko Haram.

But anyway, welcome to the "Boko Haram are bad guys" side of the fence. I'm glad you, Obama, and Kerry all changed your mind and have decided to do something since the issue riled up the base.

I am not begrudging that this is finally getting traction, don't get me wrong.  I am just trying to figure out what the tipping point was, because apparently mass abduction is more newsworthy than mass murder.

Is it as simple as the fact that there is still something we can do for these girls, where it was too late for those boys, or is there something else going on here?

Fox News would  be PRAISING the act of discouraging girls from seeking education through kidnapping and murder, but the focus testing showed that such a viewpoint doesn't sit well with the grandparents that make up 98% of their viewers.

Yes, they did.

But you only care about murdered people when the president has an "R" after his name.

Lies and projections. Thus, why you're favorited!ed.

For the record, most people cared as much about Benghazi as about the 10 embassy attacks under GWB's watch.  That is, none. You didn't see one Democrat ask that Bush or Rice be impeached over Karachi.  In fact, you probably didn't know the US embassy in Karachi was bombed and 2 people died in 2006 until you read this post.

There were 13 terrorist attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities abroad during George W. Bush's tenure - the most of any U.S. president in history. And that includes the attack on a diplomatic compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on May 12, 2003 wherein 31 people died, including 9 Americans .

That also includes the attack on the US Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan on March 2, 2006 when 4 people were killed, including US diplomat David Foy.

The total number of deaths from attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities was 60 during the Bush administration - 13 thus far under President Obama.

The explanation for blaming the Nigerian girls' kidnapping on Hillary Clinton is probably
this:  the Nigerian girls notice Hillary, they feel a sense of empowerment, the men in charge
don't like it, they go overboard to suppress - or oppress, depending on who you ask -
these girls, Fox News sees an opportunity to blame Hillary.  Same old pile of beans.
